02 CEO: early UK iPhone sales total ‘tens of thousands’ [UPDATED]
Monday, November 12, 2007 - 12:19 PM EST

"Peter Erskine, chief executive of Telefonica's 02 Europe, said the mobile operator has sold tens of thousands of Apple iPhones in the UK since the heavily-hyped multimedia handsets went on sale last Friday evening," Thomson Financial reports.

"In a conference call with reporters Erskine declined to reveal how many iPhones it has sold, as the exclusive mobile network for the handset," Thomson Financial reports.

"He said early sales had been in line with its original expectations and customers had found the new handsets easy to use," Thomson Financial reports.

Nice.

I'm one of those 100,000s! wink

Have shown my iPhone to friends and they are gonna get one too!

There was a correction of this article that said the "hundreds of thousands" was a misprint and it was actually supposed to read "tens of thousands".

That seems difficult to believe... that the UK would outsell the US in the first three days? I've heard him quoted as saying "tens of thousands" but not "hundreds of thousands". I think they misquoted him.

Hmmm, looks like the recent AAPL correction may end a bit faster than I had expected. Probably need to move up my planned stock purchase...
Go Apple!

MDN MW: speak

as in; "Rogers, can we speak about bringing the iPhone to Canada? You're losing out here. there are more than 700 iPhones available on eBay today. they're selling for a huge, let me say ridiculous, premium. You could be in on this. The Xmas buying season is upon us. Cave to Apple's demands and sell hundreds of thousands of iPhones and contracts in one weekend. A bonanza! Are you guys stupid?"

Yeah, but you'll never get MDN to research and confirm.

@Hack
except that the previous article ( 4 below this one on the main page), did infact say tens of thousands.

MDN does not write the copy it reports. It collects the articles and supplies editotorail comments on some.

"tens of thousands" . . . "hundreds of thousands" . . . give it a few months.

It'll definitely get to "hundreds of thousands" eventually, that's for sure.

Now Lesson 2 of Propoganda: Misinformation Campaign

12:39pm EST: Thomson Financial has corrected their original article, changing "hundreds of thousands" to "tens of thousands."

And this my students is a classic example of misinformation.

By making a purposeful "mistake" you reap the benefits of getting the reward and then later when the correction is issued the respect of others "that your human" just like they are. Which makes your creditability go up.

What is especially clever about this tactic is a large percentage of the people who heard "100,000's" never heard the correction for "tens of thousands".

Remember Bagdad was never conquered by the Americans. Sure it may have had some land, buildings and such, but it really exists in our minds.
And that my fellow man can never be conquered.

The latest IntelMac's don't have the TPM chip installed in them.

However some do. Especially the early ones.

If you want to find out if your does:

ioreg | grep TPM

ioreg searches for certain system attributes and returns all of them. grep searchs those responses for TPM and displays it.

TPM really isn't nearly as bad as EFI.

EFI is what alllows access to your hardware through the internet without the OS, your firewall or you even knowing about it.

If Apple is going to do iTunes Movie Rentals, they would most likely tap EFI for DRM enforcement.
