I was already to make a joke about Angry Birds, but it’s on the list.

A list of essential iPad apps that doesn’t list AIR DISPLAY is like pot without munchies. Which the author must have been smoking.
Air Display makes an iPad a wireless second (or third or fourth) monitor for a computer. It’s from the company that made Air Sharing HD. I’m using it right now.
And seriously, Kindle but not iBooks? Come on.

Kindle has the content and is not locked to the iPad. Kindle books run on Windows, Mac, iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone, Android. Search the iBooks store for 10 titles and then the Kindle most will be on Kindle- not many on iBooks.
Don’t be a fanboi.

It totally sucks and you have to pay for the same stuff that you get for free on the internet. dude go look at the ratings…..its like one of the lowest rated apps on the app store. Hulu wants to charge waaaayyyy too much. Take out the Ads and Ill pay $10 but charge $10 and Ads and you totally suck

MDN: Yes to Star Walk. One of my most used.
My most often used is ZAP2it. Great TV guide. Have set up guides for different genres, i.e., prime time favorites, news channels, HD, Movie channels, etc., and my wife has her decorating shows. With over 850 channels from which to choose, ZAP2it is a joy for a number of reasons.
Another is SoundNote. †
And a must for everyone is TapTyping.** Has more than doubled my virtual typing speed in less than a week just by spending less than 15 minutes a day on it. Perhaps one day if I keep practicing I will beat that girl*** that can type over 90 words a minute on her iPad.

The new updates to Keynote and Numbers make those killer apps on the iPad. Export to PPT and XLS and much else is improved. They’re now ready for duty.

I’ll say this as politely as possible;
FSCK OFF and go troll elsewhere. OK?

Took my iPad to Astronomy class a couple of weeks ago. We went outside to observe the sky on a fairly clear night but there were some stars that were difficult to see, so I pull out the ‘Pad and turn on Star Walk. Before I realized it I had half the class looking at the heavens on my iPad… and totally upstaged my prof in the process. To make matters worse, the prof misidentified a couple of stars and another student corrected him. Oops.
My vote goes to Star Walk.

The iPad is great. Some good apps in here… but no to Twitter. Bad implementation… of a bad service.

Thank you for the list Bizzarro. Some of those are abandonware, most of them a waste of time – but there are some great apps too. Personally, I like apps like Onyx or the one to change the wallpaper for the log-in screen. But I like a system where no Onyx or log-in screen-changer is needed too.
However, you should overcome your fear that iOS kills the mac — it will help it, and improve it too. Most of the “I don’t care for computers”-WindowsXP users will settle with an iPad within the next 10 years, and that is ok (the iPad will improve in these years too). Some developers and professionals will still use the Mac, some ubuntu, some Windows.
Still, my mother is happier with an iPad than with the MBP, and I, well I need the MBP for work, but to sit on the toilet and read MDN my iPhone or the iPad do serve better. Of course OS X will change too, but since it is no perfect system yet, this is a good thing (Can’t wait until they kill the menu bar, like NextStep).
