@marko… unless they figure out a way to make this happen (i.e. two chips or similar), then I suggest that Apple will NEVER have a phone with Verizon. As I’ve said in other posts… too many commercials touting this feature to go back on it. It’s water over the dam at this point. But Apple is great at ingenuity, so maybe they’ll find a way to make it work with Verizon.

Steve came to Verizon first for the iPhone, when their network still suffered from the same limitation, so he didn’t give a damn about browsing and talking at the same time as of a few years ago. Now all of a sudden it’s this big requirement that leaves no room for compromise? Yeah, right.
But, why, why, why would VZ run iCan’t ads if they were in talks to get the iPhone?!? That makes no sense! It must be a false rumor or iPhone for Sprint. Also, the 5-year contract. This all went down two months ago. Did VZ mysteriously pull all anti-iPhone ads? Anti-AT&T;- ok; anti-iPhone – no.

I left Verizon due to poor voice quality and dropped call. Data was a problem as well, just never really user it due to the lack of apps that would give you joy to use and not pulling teeth with something that looked from the 1970’s.
The iPhone really did change my life and that of all other cell phone users. Even Microsoft is bring there worthless mobile system towards the iPhone level. But it will take a lot of time to copy- already two years plus!
I love the iPhone, like ATT, and HATE the controling Verizon wireless. Because I like choice and NOT what you chooseto give me

Verizon only runs the “maps” ads aimed at ATT. Motorola is the one running the “Droid Does” commercials (though it could be some kind of co-marketing deal). Motorola will still have an anti-iPhone campaign even after the iPhone comes to Verizon. The network choices have nothing to do with it.

The only thing Steve cares about, and all he’s ever cared about, is making great products that people want to use. He’s said that all his Apple life. Making tons of money just naturally falls into place once you do that. The sales people stopped running that company the day they removed the “i” from his title as iCEO.
I know Verizon has had a history of locking down phones with VZ software. But this has changed recently, if you look at the Droid Eris it is not the only thing Verizon put on that phone is the Verizon ring tone, Vcast is not even an option to use with it, not that you would want to. It is possible that the folks at Verizon have wised up and are getting away from thier old ways. We can all agree that the Iphone is the best thing to ever happen to mobile comunication. As for me if they put the Iphone on Verizon most of us would be happy just to be able make a full call without it being dropped. I personaly don’t care so much that I can’t talk and surf the web at the same time any way, I think most of us do it because we can not because we need to. And yes I know some of you need that feature, so stay with AT&T;.

The “iCan’t” ads are apart of the “Droid Does” campaign so it should also be at the hands of Motorola.
If I’m not mistaken, the “iCan’t” commercials were a precursor to the “Droid Does” commercials that air now (I haven’t seen an “iCan’t” ad in months).
I don’t think Verizon will EVER have the iPhone, even when they get their 4G network in place. They are control freaks when it comes to phones. No way will they sit still for the iTunes store to sell you apps, music, ring tones, etc., without them getting their hands into your pockets. Until they change their business plan, there won’t be an iPhone on Verizon.

Really!? That’s odd because for the last 2 years they’ve been selling one phone that covers only one network GSM.
If they were really only interested in money, That would’ve expanded onto other networks in other countries by now.

I’ve never believed that the iPhone would go to Verizon, but these rumors are starting to reach “critical mass”. The occassional stray rumor here and there can easily be dismissed as b.s., but when they start coming one after the other, with nothing heard from Apple, it usually means there’s some truth there.
The same thing happened when Apple moved to Intel. Us Mac-fans had pooh-pooh’ed that possibility for years, despite the occassional rumor that Apple would go that direction. But leading up to the announcement, the rumors and analyst’s predictions starting coming faster and faster.
So help me, I think Apple and Verizon really are doing something together.

I signed up with AT&T;about a week ago because I really loved the iphone. Well so far I love my iphone, it let me run my business on the go (I own a small home theater firm in Central GA), I can process Credit card and do all kind of things when I can. And that’s a big when; so far I am not impressed at all with AT&T;, I have no coverage At my house or within a 2miles radius (Potential loss of revenue as I don’t use a landline). I have no 3g Coverage in most of the areas that I sereved. I guess it is great to have phone that you can talk and surf but what is the point if you are on a crappy network. I never had a problem with Verizon dropping calls, heck I had better cell coverage with MetroPcs. So I am forced to carry a secondary cell phone and use Google Voice.
I’d swap to Verizon in a heartbeat, I don’t even get reliable EDGE service at my house even after installing a $600 amplifier and antenna mast on the roof!! My iphone only works at home on my wireless network, reception is bad throughout Kershaw County in SC. ATT network sucks!! Apple iPhone is fantastic!
How can you guys say that Verizon won’t get the iPhone because they demand “too much control??” They are in the process of getting the Nexus One, a phone without VCast, sold directly by Google. If that’s not getting over there control issues, I don’t know what is.
As for the Verizon iPhone, Apple would be stupid not to tap into that market with the continued increase in smartphone desire by customers, couple with Verizon’s steller network. As for the Voice + Data concerns, LTE is around the corner (which as far as I know lets you do both) so it would be smart for them to get in the door early to perfect the Verizon iPhone for when it’s up and running.
