Analysts: Apple to announce next-gen iPhone on June 9

"The 3G iPhone will be announced June 9, the likely date of Apple CEO Steve Jobs' keynote at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference, analysts said in research notes on Thursday," Agam Shah reports for IDG News Service.

"The 3G iPhone will be the 'first of an impressive wave of new products' from Apple, wrote Citi analysts Richard Gardner and Yeechang Lee. They also expect an updated Mac laptop and iPod lines. The Apple conference is scheduled for June 9-13 in San Francisco," Shah reports.

"In addition to a 3G iPhone release in early June, the 2.5G model could have a 'minor casing change' and a price drop to between $299 and $349, compared to the current $399, wrote Shaw Wu, an analyst with American Technology Research, in a research report," Shah reports.

This article doesn't go to far off, they basically say that Apple is going to come out with the iPhone and release some other good stuff.

We could of came up with that.

Er, no, read the sentence again. It means that there will be a wave of new products, that they will all be impressive, and the 3G iPhone will be the first from that wave. Note that there is no comparison to existing products in that sentence. Oh, and learn to use apostrophes too (Apple's not Apples) - you'll find others will be able to understand your sentences better.

If they reduce the price of the iPhone then surely the iPod Touch should come down? If so, will other models come down even furthere and then, in turn would that mean the Touch will even replace something entirely?

The funny thing is...Tim Cook or Peter Openheimer did not mention anything about announcing products on June 9. All they said that they are going to release iPhone stuff in "late" June.

And...isn't this the same Shaw Wu, who, about a week ago, down graded Apple because of "concerns?"

Actually, by the way the sentence is constructed, the implication is that the *wave* is impressive, not the products. Although you are right that none of it implies anything about previous products (or previous waves for that matter).

Also, about the wave thing, if you're gonna go this in depth, let's break it up. first (of an impressive wave)[modifies first] (of new products)[modifies wave].

In other words, the products make up the wave. If you speak of this "wave," when referring to this sentence, then you necessarily speak of the products, as without the products, there is no wave. Also, the wave is a figurative term, so it's very hard to describe anything about the wave itself (such as, its impressiveness).

Why on earth is this a discussion? Why on earth am I contributing to it?
