Apple abandons West 34th Street site in Manhattan, preps Miami store
Tuesday, November 04, 2008 - 11:50 AM EDT

"Apple has abandoned any plans for a store on West 34th street in Manhattan, claims the New York Post. Apple currently leases 21-25 on West 34th, which is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenue, and within a short distance of the Empire State Building. The real estate is capable of supporting up to 18,000 square feet, but Apple is said to have lost interest in establishing a store on the site, and is presently looking to sub-lease through Robert K. Futterman," MacNN reports.

"Apple has meanwhile confirmed the opening of its second store within Miami proper. The Dadeland shop is located within the Dadeland Mall, and should open November 8th at 10AM," MacNN reports.

Nov 04, 08 - 12:54 pm Comment from: How is Miami's 3G network?

Will the 3G network in Miami support phone calls without continually dropping them? Certainly not the case where I live. I love my iPhone, but I'm tired of all the dropped calls. Here's hoping AT&T;can fix the problem fast... and that Apple will step up to the plate and apologize for this often overlooked problem.

Nov 04, 08 - 01:05 pm Comment from: Meanwhile, Upstairs & Outside At Mom's House

It's election day and America is on it's way to becoming Bush/Cheney/McSame/Palin free.
Meanwhile, back at mom's basement the cat litter needs changing and someone just posted on why FireWire ports on the next Mac Mini...

Same problem with dropped calls in Phoenix (5th largest city in the country). AT&T;sucks. AT&T;definitely darkens an otherwise bright experience. I have had several friends who returned their iPhones because of the poor service with AT&T;, who otherwise absolutely loved the phone but couldn't handle the frustration of dropping calls. I probably drop at least 3 per day. I live in a central, fairly densely populated area.

And ... will MDN report on how Question 8 was resolved?
Look. I've voted. I was sick and tired of angry/hostile election comments by sometime last week. The name is Obama. He's a Christian. The name is McCain. He was a war hero. Cheap slights are a sign that you have nothing of value to say. Lies - Obama is a communist/terrorist or McCain is senile - are childish, ignorant trash.

Does NYC really need yet another Apple Store? Boston doesn't.

I can't wait for tomorrow, when all tis election stuff will be over.

Then we can go back to just squabbling over the superiority of Apple over Microsoft.

Steve Jobs needs to do a "Steve Jobs" on AT&T;and kick their ass into superior service to people who have purchased iPhones.
