  1. Bill Gates: Steve B. I can’t wait for this to happen. We are dying desperately need some fresh ideas for our next system upgrade after Vista.

Steve B; Shold we called it Rosta?

Bill: ………… Er, well, er. We are really run out of innovative ideas….. See how hard and how long we had tried to copy Tiger…. Our Newton product, er I mean Origami was a failure. And those koreans had embarrassed me…… Bill say something.

Steve B: Should we called our next system Rotone?

Bill: …….. Er, well, er. How can we make our next system better than the worst?

Steve B: Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Develope Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Develope Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Developer Develope . I LOVE THIS COMPANY!!!!!

    Bill: ……….

  2. To anyone who wants to call this a “delay” by Apple, keep in mind this tasty fact… when they released Tiger they publicly stated that the pace of their OS production would be slowing down, on purpose and by design.

Mac OS X is a far more mature product now than it was in the 10.0 through 10.2 era. Apple will continue innovating but less of what they do is a “bandaid” to fix holes in OS X, and more of it will be completely new innovation.

In other words, the kernel is stable, and rock solid, and fast enough, the drivers are mature and the interface is fine. Where they go from here is add new features and functionality. There is no reason to rush at this point, they already have the most stable and advanced operating system on the planet for personal computers.

  3. The real test will be whether Panther goes beyond the tweaks to make it rock with Intel and really improves anything for the faithful – such as iLife which has been completely neglected (except for $$iTunes$$). If they don’t, it may give credibility to some of the trolls in these posts who keep saying that Windows on Macs is the real future.

  4. Apple will release earnings tomorrow. i just sold all my shares altho i was losing some money, the reason why i sold is, i dont think it is worth the risk.

the upside to the stock is 5-10% but downside to the stock is 15%

and i keep seeing this ” $52″ number in my head, i have a feeling the stock will fall down to $52.

would i be sad if it went up 10% and not be in it? yes but not as much as if i had the stock and it had gone down 10-15%.

  5. “Not one questioning, wondering, suggesting anything about Leopard. Some of you guys are just too obsessed with Microsoft.”

MS is hard to ignore, since they are everywhere, and cast a large shadow over the computer industry. They effect what they never even touch by their mere presence in the biosphere of computerdom.

That being said, a few people have commented on Apple, but until we have a clue what will be in Leopard, there’s not a whole lot we can comment on. We already know there will be some sort of dual boot, or simul boot solution for Windows (back to your comment on everything revolving around Microsoft), and someone else mentioned they wished the Finder would get an update especially for how it works on networks.. I’d also like to see it become more multithreaded as well, since most macs will be dual or multi processor by that time.

Spotlight can use some work to add some functions, as it’s a powerful feature and I expect a lot to be done with it.

Possibly data security could see some work done, more easy to use tools for encryption and locking down your computer from theft.

Depending on how they handle Windows in the next OS, if Windows or Windows programs can run at the same time as Leopard, maybe there will be a standard interface that allows UNIX/Linux programs to also boot natively without installing extra software, those so called “Xwindows” programs or whatever they are called.

I’d like to see more work done to support games on the Mac, including Apple branded native support for game controllers.

There’s some of my ideas.. I’m sure someone more heavily involved in networking or other aspects of OS X that I’m less familiar with can come up with some others.

  6. Well sell sell sell, it was stupid to sell your stocks short because of a number that you had in your head. It was also stupid to think that if it does go down, that that’s permanent and it will never go up again.

  7. Read what the original invitation says. What do you think they mean by ‘build modern platform-differentiated products with powerful new and existing frameworks’? And how about ‘groundbreaking development tools and systems’?

That sounds pretty intriguing to me. What exactly do they mean? This sounds like more than a tweak.

Cocoa for Windows? If they did do this (unlikely?), then XCode + Cocoa would become an obvious choice for many developers, increasing the number of OS X apps produced ‘at zero cost’ by Win32-centric developers.

But, if that’s not what they mean – then what DO they mean?

  8. Stock sellers

Stop being so afraid. Stop tring to get rich quick. Apple is a slow burn. Hold boys hold. Buy boys buy. Apple will come close to doubling it’s market share. I predict they will grow revenues to 21B this year. And 2007 will be the year of the Mac. Dell and HP will lose 3 Percent market share in 2007. You heard it first from the Prophet.
