doesn't before guy resemble Balmer?

May 18, 09 - 11:25 am Comment from: BillyBob@home

I love the copy on the web page about Pakistan... you can be sure Apple had their hand in the copy on the page.

... or choosing which day or time of day to do a screen capture. I'm sure no anti-abortion or anti-gay articles would be seen.

Haul up the NYT and you'll discover that page is current.

Maybe it's all done with magic and the page changes every day.

@Carl,

'Before Guy' is a Ballmer slam. Notice the bald head, he's in an advert for 'Hair Growth Academy', and he wears an exceedingly boring beige colored shirt. Some may call it an 'homage'... haha

Methinks Apple is finally taking the gloves off with the latest crop of spots.

MaWo: 'going'. As in, '... to be fun to watch.'

Great AD ! ! !
I suspect Apple bought those three spaces as much to limit the amount of "contrary material" as to place their own material. Last time they used a paper there was a problem with some adjacent material ... which isn't that unusual with the newspaper, I guess.
Apple, though, put a Customer Service graph on the top - where it makes it's own statement - and a faux ad (like Faux Gnus) on the left border, and lets them 'communicate'. In effect, including the whole page at 1/4 the cost!

Are you serious? Really? I don't even know what you're trying ton insinuate…

Regarding the web ad itself… wow, what a way to take over the page! I despise talking ads even more than popups, but I admit, the way they used the Before Guy and After Guy is quite clever.

What's your problem, dude?

May 18, 09 - 01:41 pm Comment from: Firemnlee

That was GREAT!!!! You go to NewYorkTimes.com and click on the play button on the apple ad and the site becomes one big advertisement for APPLE!! Love it!!

Ingenious. And, for a web-based banner ad, memorable (and clickable).

"Looking good, AFTER guy." LOL.

NYT is probably getting more traffic, just from people wanting to see this ad. Imagine that...

What I really like is that when the sound is turned on my the visitor (a really good idea to have it off by default so that if someone doesn't want to hear it, the default is politeness and quietness) the ad automatically starts over. A really good idea because otherwise every normal person would miss the beginning words of the ad, ruining the experience

There's an even better web ad right now on the main page of the Toronto Star - http://www.thestar.com.

That one is another good one; not quite as clever but very funny.
