Way. Too. Distracting. They've taken the concept too far with that one. It's hard for the eyes to know what to look at since so much is moving on the page in different directions. Shame.

I thought you said they debuted new iPod Touch. Oh well.

There are lots of cool games for the Touch. But I think they push the game aspect too much, to the neglect of other things. It's also a very useful communications and productivity device. The three apps I use the most are Mail, OmniFocus, and Facebook.

What a horrible ad! There's nothing about it that makes me want to buy it. Apple can put the touch on someone else.

I agree with Military Police, Apple *does* "push the game aspect too much, to the neglect of other things." Perhaps they're trying to push a false distinction between the "serious" iPhone, which generates for Apple more revenue, from the "fun" iPod touch.

Most of the apps I've downloaded for my own Touch are of a non-game character. I don't have much need for a cell phone, and I certainly don't want to pay those monthlies. But I do want many of those "serious" apps.

The IPT is my micro netbook. It is a full-on miniature computer.
I e-mail, surf the net, listen to radio, review my presentations, listen to music, show my photos, distract myself with games, travel the world,i.e. book hotels, check currency exchanges, and using truphone, make phone calls on the iPod touch over WiFi. With the ridiculously low amount of data transfer provided by Rogers (in Canada), there is no reason at this time to obtain the iPhone in this country. Rogers has effectively ruined the creative potential of the iPhone by grossly restricting it's capacity.

Kids are buying or their parents are buying iPod touch for the GAMES.

It my not be your reason for buying it but kids play games and kids get iPods.

Don't get too used to your non-game apps, iPod touch users.

It's only a matter of time until Apple, in their infinite wisdom, decides to lock iPod touches down so that they can only run games. This ad campaign is only beginning.

Well ladies & gents...

Looks like we stuck a fork in Pitchfork... It's currently out with a:

Oh No!
Server Error
Something has gone awry, but we've been notified and are (probably) working on fixing what broke.

i think too many of us had the same idea I did when I could not find the ad at ESPN I tried Pitchfork...

Now if they would just add a cell phone capability without 2G or 3g support I would buy one. Anything so I don't have to pay AT&T;the data charge.

I have no use for games. I'm interested in other apps. They're much more fun. Like music, for example- recording, creating, listening. I want to be able to create videos as well as audio recordings of my band. Read all my news sites, view tutorials, easy e-mail access and performance.

Don't need no stinkin' games. I'm an artist and musician. That's My game!

Games are the reason that my 11-year old daughter wanted an iPod touch for her birthday. She ended up paying for over half of it with her own money. The rest was her birthday present. The Nintendo DS Lites have been mostly idle for the last couple of months.

The ad looks much better if you actually go to pitchfork.com.

And if you do go there, the ad has not only worked for Apple, it has also benefited the hosting web site for increasing traffic. Pretty soon, web sites are going to be PAYING APPLE for the right to host its new ads.

Ad leaves me cold, but will probably reach target audience - kids, students, young adults. I do use my iphone for a couple of games, but Safari, Mail, SaiSuke are important to me.

The ads didn't work for me.....

.... then again I don't have fat lady ads on MDN either.
