  1. like other manufacturers of unique and good looking products, it might be a good idea to show the people that know nothing of macs the size of the mini, the integration of the imac and the stylish notebooks, just a thought, but im sure it would sell – maybe its the next step after this usability awareness campaign

  2. andy: Good point, except that the Mac can now boot windows directly and play all those games, too!

What I don’t like about these ads, is the implication that a Mac CAN’T do spreadsheets, pie charts and other “business-like” stuff” when in fact it’s a better platform for all of that.

MW: “sense” It’s also good business sense to work with a Mac!

  3. the pie chart is sweet! but I feel like the way windows is been portrayed is somewhat too donkeyballs. I mean, okay, the don’t have the iLife suite – but it’s not like you can’t view and edit photos or videos on windows with other apps.

  4. Yet more vain attempts to get people to purchase these overpriced, overheating, and slow computers. People are beginning to wake up and understand that Apple produces crap and that virtually any other computer company has a superior product. With Apple stock crashing on practically a daily basis even the Apple maniacs realize that the only product Steve Jobs has is the iPod. Guess we will have to see how long it takes Apple to rename themselves iPod inc and drop their useless computer products.

Time to buy a real computer from a real computer company.

  5. “Macs do Windows Too

    But we don’t support it.

    -Apple”

… and this is somehow different than what Redmond does?…

Unfortunately, the Windoze flame posts are getting quite boaring lately. None of them ever attack the OS, and many are attacking what appears to be old hardware, OS 7.5.2, or overall bizzare posting behavior…

It’s just not as fun to win all the time ; )

Not to change the topic too quickly, but Windows Vista will:
    – Deliver an OS X-like GUI (at least they tried)
    – Delver a semi-system level search (long live the registry and file system!)
    – Deliver a secure OS.

The last is the most important one on the radar for M$ and loads of their customers using Windows, but this begs a fundamental queston:

Why should people need to pay for what is at the core a massive security patch called Vista (instead of Service Pack X)? Right, they souldn’t.

I guess people can fork out the bank for a new search utility and really poor execution of expose, but hopefully some of those poor sheep will opt out of Bill Gates reign of “sub-par products forever!” world…

  6. Yes. I agree. I have seen the light. And on a separate note, whatever you like, I don’t like. And furthermore, I disgaree with you on your assertion…well…just because.

And all the while, we give MDN traffic! Go capitalism!

  7. To the Mac Realist–where are you getting your REAL info from?
Your statement: ” With Apple stock crashing on practically a daily basis even the Apple maniacs realize that the only product Steve Jobs has is the iPod.”

I’ve made a heck of a lot of MY Apple stock! The recent slump is one that many stocks are experiencing right now–not like it’s just Apple.

  8. andy,
I’ve seen PCs nearly as small as minis, but they were seriously hamstrung in a number of ways – more like thin clients than “real computers”. So, making a big deal about the size may not be the best way to go.

Also, the “fun” of the iLife apps differs significantly from the “fun” of the games you can get only on a PC. With one you can have a passably good time creating something then a great time showing it off. With the other you get the thrill of the “chase” and then … what? You can’t even show your mother/spouse/kid what you did with the last four hours of your life. And, if your spouse spent that four hours trying to get you to help with the laundry … you would be better off denying what you’d been doing.

  9. PC is bent over a fence. A huge Hell’s Angel is holding him down. Behind PC is a line of big, rough, scary men. PC’s face is in extreme pain.

Mac: Hey PC, whatch doin’–Holy Crap!! What’s happening to you?!

    PC: Oh I…ARRRRH!…just went online again….AUGGH!…Now I’m under…GAAAH!…attack…

Mac: Jesus Christ, PC, you’re being ass-raped!

    PC: No, um…ARRRRH!…yes…doesn’t this….AUGGH!…happen to…GAAAH!…you.?

Mac: Christ, no! Holy crap PC, can I help you…somehow?

    PC: No…it’ll be OK… GAAAH…all I have to do is… ARRRRH…(wait for it)…wipe clean

Mac: You just…just..tolerate this? Sweet fscking mother of Christ…

A shocked Mac walks away shaking his head. The next Hell’s Angel takes his place in line
