It's the new iRobot, Apple are ready to roll it out and once it's in all homes they will simultaneously destroy all MS equipment - except for my trackball explorer which is actually very good.

I never bought a first generation iPhone. Hopefully, they have got the bugs out of the it, and then I can consider it when my current contract expires.

Aside from needing a little proofreading, could you please elaborate on what "bugs" even existed in iPhone 1.0?

I own an iPhone, and everything that's included works as advertised.

I already have my current iPhone sold to a co-worker... Just waiting for the new model to arrive (since february actually...). I may buy two this time...

Most Macs at the Apple Store online (now and historically) offer from two to three model choices and iPods also range from low to high with regards to price, features and capacity. The rumors of two or more iPhone models seems plausible.

Don't worry, already checked... I have total cover from Carphone Warehouse, and asked that exact question when I bought the insurance. They will replace my iPhone with the newest model.

Win-Win situation for me only a £20 excess charge for a 2nd Gen iPhone!

Keeping this worldwide event secret is as big an accomplishment as their OS and product line. Universities will teach this to the Window 7 droolers in marketing class.
Maybe there is a iPhone 2 producing factory on an island in the Pacific where noone speaks English and noone can afford a camera phone or internet.

You are lucky to be able to use an iPhone. AT&T;is still not a service available in Vermont. Last week, I went out and got a new LG phone. <sigh> I truly wish I could share in the excitement.

I agree with you on the Trackball Explorer. I just can't get by without mine. I wish they were still available. I've got a couple that I've been hoarding, so I'll still have one when mine gives up the ghost.

what i don't understand: what about the iphone software 2.0? how can it be installed on millions of units which are already waiting in warehouses around the globe to be shipped, if it is not even ready yet? someone?

p.s. i am also betting on two iphone devices. on 3G with a 3,5" screen and a smaller 2.5G with a 2,8" screen. (remember: customers don't care about features, they care about the experience)

I had to stop by the AT&T;store over the weekend, and mentioned the new iPhone -- and the dude knew nothing about it; hadn't even heard one was being released. So it's going to come as a surprise to your average AT&T;idiot too...

(I'm converting my 1.0 into my spouse's new phone, then getting the 2.0 for myself.)

We have three iPhones in our family. If it has video conferencing, then I will update all three, if not then only mine will be updated for now. With the 2.0 software, it will still be like getting a new phone.
