Come on iPhone 2.0.... June 9th can not come soon enough!

If I can convince my wife to let me get one of these rumored iPhones with 3g and gps,, my life would be happier and simpler, the U.S. would be powered by nuclear breeder reactors, EV cars would have 2000 mile range, all Muslims would love Americans, and Mitt Romney would become the next president.

None of those will happen, but a guy can dream can't he?

Hmm... It looks like I need to wait for iPhone 3.0 for these features. Yes!!!

Dang 'Empty-Wallet' Syndrom. I'm still using my old Nokia clamshell from 2004. No contract, just no extra money. (Especially not $20 extra / month. Dang you Budget and Good Finantial Sense!)

Just help me get better reception and I'll be happy…

You actually have two choices: wait for iPhone 3.0 (or perhaps 4.0, or 5.0, depending on what else they might promise), or get iPhone 2.0 in the next two weeks and enjoy it for the next twelve months (assuming the product refresh cycle will remain 12 months). If Apple remains consistent with their pricing (as they have been for the past ten iMac years), iPhone 3.0 will still cost about $400, which will be what you will have paid for iPhone 2.0. You will most likely have several reasonable options next year, if you were set on getting 3.0 (eBay/Craig's list, AT&T;'s upgrade with rebate, handing down the old one to your spouse/children, etc). Besides, the device is only $400. It is not like you're getting a new car, is it?

Apple Patents all important smart phone features for current and future smartphone devices. Gates and Ballmer need to get a focused plan for Microsoft and it's future. If Ballmer wants to make MS an internet ad company then MS needs to spin-off the game and the OS businesses as independent companies, close them down, liquidate them out or sell them outright. As MS focuses on competing with Google the company is moving it's priorities to meet that end, which means the Vista disappointments and vapor feature sets will continue in MS Software products.

I don't get it. Even though you want secrecy, why would you go through all the cost/effort of bringing something to full production/shipped etc. then file your patents? What if someone else started filing patents based on all rumors?

But then again, everyone knows that.

Typically several months go by between the actual filing of your patent and the date that the US patent Office "publishes" it online. This patent was FILED on Sept 5, 2007.

Nokia, Samsung, Sony, RIM, you name it, they're all going to say they thought of that, before Apple did when they bring out their 5 pound clunker wannabees.

As to the piece at hand, it is not as if all (or for that manner any) of these things listed in the patent app are going to make it to iPhone 2.0. It is just a patent application, and is really there to protect iPhone innovations that we may not see until the third or fourth generation.

2) BIG batch of first-wave approved

3) iPhone 2.0 device to go with it.

4) AT&T;exclusivity (in the USA) will CONTINUE. These devices will accept sims from iPhone-capable cel networks in other countries.

5) AT&T;will announce free Wi-Fi hotspots for all iPhone accounts.

6) Mac Pro update

I didn't say you'd like 'em. But I don't think there's any reason to believe they're going to change it. "Multi-year exclusivity" probably means just what it says. Apple's always been anti-competitive. Why stop now?

I have been trying to make up my mind on if I should buy iPhone for the past year. After reading about the 3G that will hopefully come out soon I have decided to finally get one. Could anyone out there give me some input on a few things if Jobs talks about it Monday:
-If you think it will be available immediately after WWDC?
-Will it be somewhat possible to get upon release and the best place to get one (AT&T;, Apple store, Online)?
-Price?
