Apple files multiple patent infringement lawsuits against Motorola

Apple Online Store“When Motorola preemptively launched their declaration judgment action against Apple earlier this month, we knew that Apple was likely to launch multiple patent infringement lawsuits against Motorola once their licensing negotiations failed to produce an agreement,” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple. “Late yesterday, Apple filed a pair of patent infringement lawsuits against Motorola Inc. and Motorola Mobility Inc. in the Wisconsin Western District Court. The combined lawsuits cover six patents – none of which were covered by Motorola Mobility Inc.’s filed lawsuits.”

“According to court documents, Apple states that the Accused Products are mobile devices, such as smartphones, and associated software, including operating systems, user interfaces, and other application software designed for use on, and loaded onto, such devices,” Purcher reports. “Upon information and belief, these products are manufactured, marketed and/or sold by Motorola in the United States. At least the following mobile devices infringe one or more claims of one or more of the Asserted Patents: Droid, Droid 2, Droid X, Cliq, Cliq XT, BackFlip, Devour A555, Devour i1, and Charm.1.”

The following information pertains to six granted patents listed in Apple’s two distinct lawsuits.

Case 0661
• Ellipse Fitting for Multi-Touch Surfaces
• Multipoint Touchscreen:
• Object-Oriented System Locator System

Case 0662
• Touch Screen Device, Method, and Graphical User Interface for Determining Commands by Applying Heuristics
• Method and Apparatus for Displaying and Accessing Control and Status Information in a Computer System
• Support for Custom User-Interaction Elements in a Graphical, Event-Driven Computer System

MacDailyNews Take: The chickens are coming home to roost for Google and their Android suckers, er… partners. And, this time around, there’s no poorly-written contract signed by an unprepared sugared water salesbozo.” Wherever their IP in infringed upon, Apple should make the thieves pay dearly.

Google’s going to rue the day they got greedy by deciding to try to work against Apple instead of with them. Google at least has another business to fall back on, but their hapless, desperate, and now totally dependent device assemblers like Motorola and HTC are really going to get whacked.

We’ve been pushing the state-of-the-art in every facet of design… We’ve been innovating like crazy for the last few years on this and we’ve filed for over 200 patents for all of the inventions in iPhone. And we intend to protect them.Apple CEO Steve Jobs when unveiling iPhone, January 9, 2007

We like competition as long as they don’t rip off our IP, in which case we will go after them. We will not stand for having our IP ripped-off and we will use any weapons at our disposal [to stop it].Apple COO Tim Cook, January 21, 2009

  1. A 5 year old girl rode her training bike into an old woman who was knocked over and broke her hip.

The old woman died 3 months later of complications brought on by the broken hip.

The appeals court says the 5 year old can be sued. As a result, her parents can also be sued.

You gotta love a country where you can sue 5 year olds for being 5 year olds.

Actually you gotta love not living in a country that allows people to sue 5 year old girls for playing with their bikes on the sidewalk.

  3. It was really Obama that master minded 9/11.

    Bush was just his slave.

And Rockfeller had Kennedy assassinated so he could build his Jaccuzzi where he wanted.

So now you know the truth, but be careful, once they find out, they’ll send Clinton after you!

  5. Big Al,

Really?!?! Just because my last name isn’t Bush doesn’t mean I’m not connected.

Also, at least I don’t post as if it was my laptop speaking. Apple is great, but they’re not that good, yet.

But then again, C1 would retort that Bin Laden was on the Republican payroll with money funneled through Redmond.

The old woman died during surgery on her broken hip, a different matter altogether. She might have lived for quite some time if not operated on.

She likely wouldn’t have needed surgery if she didn’t sustain a accident, but holding a 5 year old responsible and thus her parents is wrong, the old woman shouldn’t have been on the streets if she was so frail and unable to withstand the normal bumps and bruises of daily life.

If the 5 year old loses, the result will be a leash law for children, much like there is for dogs. As now parents can be sued for their child’s accidents or malicious behavior.

Of course next there will be a argument at what age does the leash law end for children? Technically a 18 year old is no longer a child. So does that mean 12 year olds have to be leashed to a adult whenever outside?
