Apple iPhone 3GS sold out in UK
Thursday, July 02, 2009 - 08:59 AM EST"UK mobile operator O2 has exhausted its supply of Apple’s latest hot gadget," Telecoms.com reports.
"A posting on the O2 UK website tells consumers that due to phenomenal demand for the iPhone 3GS, the company has run out of stock online, over the phone and in retail stores," Telecoms.com reports. "The company said it expects additional stock of the iPhone 3GS at the end of this week."
Telecoms.com reports, "In terms of hardware enhancements, the iPhone 3GS features longer battery life, a 3 megapixel autofocus camera, which happily allows video recording, hands free voice control and a digital compass that complements the onboard GPS to reorient maps to the direction you are facing."
In terms of software enhancements, "Version 3.0 adds over 100 new features to the older devices including: Cut, Copy and Paste; MMS; improved search; landscape keyboard; parental controls; Voice Memos; a Find My iPhone feature that works together with MobileMe; Remote Wipe; wireless downloading of movies, TV and audio programs; and peer to peer functionality," Telecoms.com reports.

...guess something similar is happening here in NL: the initial batches delivered to the stores were gone immediately (there were many more on pre-order than were distributed the first day), and in the mean time, pre-order people (like myself: ordered the first day that a pre-order was possible) are still waiting.
Anyone walking into the stores: please join the queue, expect a 2-4 weeks wait at least...
And I don't expect Apple to purposely produce less - guess the production lines are at 180% of their normal capacity still...
(and my colleague/friend down the hall - an earlier-on-the-1st-day-pre-order guy - has his 3GS since last Saturday, and keeps on bugging me with it)
