Apple iPhone to launch June 15th - or maybe June 22nd?
Friday, June 01, 2007 - 04:51 PM EST

"Earlier this week, WR Hambrecht analyst Matthew Kather released the results of a survey of AT&T Cingular stores the investment banking firm queried," W. David Gardner reports for InformationWeek.

"'Most stores expect the phone on 6/15 or 6/22, and most expect to only have a few (highest number was 40 at one store) on hand initially.' Kather's report states, 'Overall pent-up retail demand at Cingular stores appears very strong, with about 15-20% of the stores we contacted keeping a waiting list for customers interested to purchase it,'" Gardner reports.

Gardner reports, "Apple CEO Steve Jobs said Wednesday that he expects to begin selling the iPhone before the end of June. The widespread expectation by analysts is that the launch will coincide with Apple's World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco. Jobs is scheduled to deliver his keynote on Monday, June 11."

Whenever it launches, it's gonna be huge. Can't wait.

hat-trick?

I think one of 30 first days of june are a strong possibility.

But I must warn you, I've been wrong before. Once.

Jun 01, 07 - 03:55 pm Comment from: Crabapple

How will it be launched I wonder? With pomp and Circumstance?

Jun 01, 07 - 03:57 pm Comment from: Crabapple

Will all the CEO's of all the major internet firms recieve one by courier?

Is there a V.I.P list who will have it delivered at an extra cost?

The mind boggles!

It will be launched with lots of liquid nitrogen. Then, it will achieve near-earth orbit.

Jun 01, 07 - 04:07 pm Comment from: AppleWorker

For what is worth, I was told today to make absolutly sure that I come to work on Monday the 25th. When I asked why I just got a " You better be here on that day, that's all I have to say"

Jun 01, 07 - 04:14 pm Comment from: Schoolmarm

I guess they don't teach how to use spell check in safari during the apple orientation classes.

Jun 01, 07 - 04:20 pm Comment from: Nick Holla

Seems like a bunch of old geezers on here get to hung up on spell check. Not all of us are on a mac or are using Firefox 2.0. If ya knew what the person meant, then no harm done, chill out.

@ AppleWorker,

thanx for the heads up, I remember when I was workin there and they would drop hints like that, I predicted the red ipod before it was officially announced ....just a lucky guess, but the look on my manager's face told me I was right.

...the first person that is.

Jun 01, 07 - 04:59 pm Comment from: Grammarman

Inaccuracies in spelling and grammar indicate a lazy mind.

Jun 01, 07 - 05:04 pm Comment from: Grammarman

"Seems like a bunch of old geezers on here get to hung up on spell check."

That should read "too hung up" and unfortunately spellcheck won't help you with that one. wink

Jun 01, 07 - 05:20 pm Comment from: Poser Alert

Isn't it true that IE doesn't have spellcheck?

MDN word is Once, as in Pederson used to have serious spelling issues once.

Jun 01, 07 - 06:54 pm Comment from: butcher

Perfect grammar and spelling but with nothing much to say indicate a petty mind. A wasted mind. A bored mind. The incomplete sentences were on purpose.

Couldn't you find something more valuable to be offended by?

Jun 01, 07 - 06:56 pm Comment from: Davis Machead

My guess is that the release date will be June 19th.

Jun 01, 07 - 07:23 pm Comment from: mark

June 11th is not "late June." If it is true that analysts have a "widespread expectation" that that's the release date, then it just proves once again that those analysts are idiots.

And given what Apple has said, it is unlikely that Apple plans to turn its Mac OS X developers into iPhone OS X developers at WWDC, so there is little reason to believe that June 11th is the launch date.

Jun 01, 07 - 07:25 pm Comment from: jones

Those expecting a free iPhone at WWDC will be sorely disappointed. Apple has already announced that attendees will receive a beta copy of Leopard. It's unlikely there will anything else of great value given away.

June 15 will be launch day. Both Apple and AT&T;Affiliate Marketing links expire that day...

Jun 02, 07 - 05:28 am Comment from: Kasper

I don't know about you, but at the "D: All things digital" conference, Steve Jobs has been asked, when the new iPhone will be shipped, he answered "end of june" so Walt Mossberg said something like "which means, the very last day of june?"
Jobs laughed and then said yes.

So my guess: 29th of June.

Greets.

Jun 02, 07 - 07:05 am Comment from: More complaining

Poor spelling and grammar not only indicate a lazy mind but also show a lack of common courtesy.

Jun 02, 07 - 07:12 am Comment from: @ Kasper

Jobs laughed and then said "probably". He said it in a very minor sarcastic, joking tone.

You poor saps who are about to wet your pants over a freakin' telephone are really amazing. You remind me of teenage girls looking at their idols in a teen magazine. What shallow lives we must lead!

Jun 03, 07 - 06:11 pm Comment from: Chris

Yep! I JUST saw a new AT&T;/iPhone ad on TV. It said "Coming June 29th"! There it is!
