Apple launches online Apple Store Malaysia
Friday, November 14, 2008 - 08:53 AM EDT

Apple Online Store has been officially launched in Malaysia.

MacDailyNews reader Julian tells us that the new Apple Online Store in Malaysia "makes me so happy because I'm a university student here [and] I'm a loyal MDN reader as well as a Mac user [whose] family has 7 Macs and 8 iPods."

The Apple Online Store also brings competition to the market, providing a pricing benchmark vs. other distributors of Apple products (official and unofficial.

Apple Store Malaysia is store.apple.com/my/.

As a long time MDN reader from Malaysia, great to see some local flavour here. True, choices are not that great but do take a look at the education store. Nice discounts there lah.

Mmmmmalaysia! What an awesome country. Petronas Towers, wonderful food, cheap, polite and civilized populace. Well, except for their politicians...Oh, and the Call For Prayers at 5:30 in the morning...Oh, and don't get caught with drugs - automatic death penalty.

Can't wait to get back there again!

@Julian

"Malaysia Boleh" is nothing but a typical disgrace... It's overly-rated and overly-hyped... an often misused connotation...

Supposedly I'll be hearing the slang "Malaysia Boleh" again once iPhone is launched there...? Come on... It's just Apple making a presence there, nothing fancy....

Still no official iPhone for Malaysia! Our neighbours Singapore and the Philippines have already got theirs.. and may be Thailand will follow soon.. Oi Apple, bring it over lah!

Ho hum. As a Brit living in Malaysia, all I can say that Apple prices in the store and in local dealerships are a scam since this is supposed to a tax-free country as far as computers are concerned. The cost of living is low here. Most things are far cheaper etc etc.
So how come Apple prices are so high?
I'll just keep buying from my dealer in the US who sells me stuff free of sales tax.
Bugger the cheating Malaysian market.
