All hail His Steveness!

Jan 15, 08 - 07:22 pm Comment from: Jubei

Geez watching Steve vs Ballmer or Gates is like night and day. Steve is a great speaker and can really pull the audience attention and the way he controls his inflections during his speeches is unrivaled.

Listening to Gates is like watching someone reading a teleprompter. It makes you even wonder if the guy really believes what he says.

Listening to Ballmer makes you want to take a shower for 3 hours, because you feel dirty all over. Feels like you've been had by a used car salesman from the outskirts of a small town in the middle of a desert.

Jan 15, 08 - 07:22 pm Comment from: Nutcracker

Soooo... the big question I have is, "What the hell happened to the 'Coveritlive.com' coverage?"

hahahahahaa

btw, MDN, nice recovery after thier servers tanked. Better luck next time.

Jan 15, 08 - 07:33 pm Comment from: Stop the Obama crap

All of these Barack Hussein Obama ads are annoying. This isn't the Daily Kos is it?

Jan 15, 08 - 07:37 pm Comment from: MacBill

Totally lackluster keynote.

Jan 15, 08 - 07:38 pm Comment from: Randy Newman

Anti-American loser.

Jan 15, 08 - 07:42 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

Do ya feel the love today? Boy I sure do.

Pearls before swine would be a compliment. At least I can eat a pig.

Jan 15, 08 - 07:51 pm Comment from: @Randy Newman

Yes, I agree that Barack Hussein Obama is an anti-American loser. That's why I don't understand why he is all over this page. You may as well be selling Che Guevera t-shirts.

Jan 15, 08 - 07:52 pm Comment from: headwerkn

Jesus, I talked to speed freaks who are easier to understand than Randy Newman. They ramble on less too.

Entertaining and what we all (outside of the US) think anyway, but in a kind of cringeworthy, did-Steve-actually-approve-this? kinda way.

Jan 15, 08 - 08:15 pm Comment from: Respect

I lost a lot of respect for Apple after hearing Randy Newman's remarks at the end of the keynote. Why Apple would allow such political commentary is beyond belief. As a stockholder I find it hard to understand how Steve Jobs would allow such comments, which alienates half of their customers (and should sicken even those the other half). Again, I lost much respect for Apple today, plus, the keynote was the worst in years.

Jan 15, 08 - 08:18 pm Comment from: Steve Mistake

Steve said Tiger instead of Leopard at 04:13 in the keynote.

Jan 15, 08 - 08:21 pm Comment from: we are the new empire

eat your bowl and beg for more

hahahahahahahahahahahah

Jan 15, 08 - 08:22 pm Comment from: MaLvado

The opening Mac commercial is awesome!
I want to see that on TV!

Jan 15, 08 - 08:22 pm Comment from: OldMacFan

I keep getting an error...I can watch other video from the Apple website but I don't believe they stream the others.

I guess I wait for this to be on YouTube...

:~(

Jan 15, 08 - 08:25 pm Comment from: Jubei

Steve also said Time Machine, so big deal! LOL. He's not a robot and he doesn't read off cue cards like some of these Windows DOLTS who insist that innovation and Microsoft go hand in hand. What has Bill Gates or Ballmer lately? Oh yeah, Vista, wait actually making sure they create products to continue and feed that monopoly engine.

Jan 15, 08 - 08:27 pm Comment from: @@Randy Newman

"Yes, I agree that Barack Hussein Obama is an anti-American loser."
====================================

Well, you might agree with the other dipshit, but that doesn't make either one of you right.

Obama is the safe corporate pick on the Democrat's side. He's about as anti-American as Ward Cleaver.

Now, he might be anti-dipshit, so I'd watch out if I were you.

P.S. Stop using the Hussein middle name. You'll scare all the bed-wetters out there who eat up all the bullshite the talking blowhards spew on TV and radio,

Jan 15, 08 - 08:29 pm Comment from: Grigori

Satire, people; it's a good thing.

Jan 15, 08 - 08:36 pm Comment from: Grigori

OldMacFan, it opens up in QuickTime.

Jan 15, 08 - 08:41 pm Comment from: Barack Hussein Obama

As President of the United States, I promise to weaken our defenses, socialize the health care system, tax you out the wazoo, and redistribute your money to those who did not earn it. I will also insure that partial-birth abortions remain legal, since baby killing is a good thing.

Jan 15, 08 - 08:46 pm Comment from: Grigori

There are other websites you can go to, kiddies, if you don't like the banner ads.

Jan 15, 08 - 08:46 pm Comment from: Gil

Decisions Decisions

Go on a date with a hot girl or go home and watch the keynote?

Decisions Decisions

Jan 15, 08 - 08:56 pm Comment from: Grigori

Um, may I suggest the date, Gil? You can watch any old time.

Jan 15, 08 - 09:24 pm Comment from: Ampar

If she's truly hot, she'll suggest you do it while watching the keynote. And if she does, never let her go.

Jan 15, 08 - 09:25 pm Comment from: Ampar

And senseless troll killing is a better thing.

Jan 15, 08 - 09:25 pm Comment from: TowerTone

I gotta idea, Gil,

Why doncha let us watch yer date?

Jan 15, 08 - 09:27 pm Comment from: Jeff

I only have 1 question WHY IS THIS NOT ON Apple TV????

Jan 15, 08 - 09:36 pm Comment from: TowerTone

I enjoyed all of the show, right up to the point where Mumbles the Clown threw water on it using confetti derived from typical bullshit.

How environmentally friendly....waste not, want not. And as my grandson would say, "I not want that waste".

I think I will order an TV in a couple of weeks.

And then a Time capsule a few weeks later. Wish it did music. That's crazy that I would need it sitting right next to my Express.

Come on, Steve. Cut down on the plastic and power needed to do two things that one unit can do. I could then put the Express in the bedroom on my Wave Radio.

Jan 15, 08 - 09:39 pm Comment from: @Respect

Very well said. On target all around - from Steve's lackluster announcements to his introduction of a Marxist piano player.

This justice though: Newman's shrinking with age - becoming one of those 'short people'.

Jan 15, 08 - 09:49 pm Comment from: Reclaimer

I am disappointed with the MacBook Air.

I was hoping for a new MacBook or MacBook Pro, but not this!

I am at a loss who the target market for the MacBook Air is anyway.

I was going to watch the keynote, but I will play Halo instead.

And enough with the Bakla Obama ads already!

Those of you who speak Tagalog know what "bakla" means!

Jan 15, 08 - 09:51 pm Comment from: grh

Watch, hell. I wanna download.

Jan 15, 08 - 10:14 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

@ Reclaimer

If he was gay he'd have more style.

Jan 15, 08 - 10:24 pm Comment from: Ampar

"If he was gay he'd have more style."

The breeders are tired of your discrimination.

Jan 15, 08 - 10:34 pm Comment from: TowerTone

so's us inbreederds.....

Who needs branches on the family tree? It makes them too dang hard to split far the stove.

Jan 15, 08 - 10:36 pm Comment from: TheConfuzed1

Did anyone else notice that at about 4:14, Steve mistakenly refers to Leopard as Tiger?

Jan 15, 08 - 10:42 pm Comment from: TheConfuzed1

Yup. I just read the comments here, and I see that someone did. wink

Jan 15, 08 - 11:38 pm Comment from: Renderdog

MacDailyNews might want to give up on the "live" coverage, it was slow and filled with typos. MacRumors did an excellent job.

Jan 15, 08 - 11:49 pm Comment from: Macintosh Sauce

I was going to get the MacBook Air, until I found out that you cannot remove the battery. No deal - sorry Apple. I will stick to the black MacBook that I was originally planning on purchasing and save myself some money in the process. The two extra pounds are not going to kill me.

Jan 16, 08 - 12:15 am Comment from: me

How did iPod sales go last year, was it another record?

Jan 16, 08 - 12:50 am Comment from: Lilochris

I find this to be a somewhat disappointing keynote. Not about jobs performance but on the products. The MacBook air Apple TV Update & movie rentals were great highlights.

What ticked me off was the New Time Capsule device. So all of us how already bought a new base station have to by this new device now if you want to use Wireless backup with time machine??? Total BS!!!!!!! It would have been much simpler if apple just allowed Time Machine backup capability with the existing Base Station, update Time Machine Software and Mac OS X. They should have made it work with any external drive connected to a regular base station. Time Capsule might not do very well at all.

Also what ticked me but really don't care because I don't own one is the $20 software update for the iPod Touch. If iPhone users get it free, why not touch users? The touch is supposed to be everything the iphone is only without the phone past right? Apple just proved it's not & u gotta pay alittle more to have a little more iPhone in u're touch. It's not a bad update but is it really worth the extra $20?

Was hoping for a Mac Mini Update that combined Apple TV Functionality, A mid range tower for us user who want to configure and expand our Mac any way we want, along with a price drop to the consumer MacBook line like $999. An update to the Cinema displays with built in iSight cam, IR Sensor, wireless video, and also price reduction.

Jan 16, 08 - 01:13 am Comment from: Michael Jordan

Randy Newman ended the presentation on such a sour note. What were they thinking? Agree with him or not, that kind of political drivel has no place at a business expo for a national company whose customers include people from all political parties.

Is Apple officially saying "conservatives please don't buy our products... we don't want you!" ?

Steve Jobs needs to learn from Michael Jordan, who once said "Republicans buy sneakers, too."

Jan 16, 08 - 02:00 am Comment from: Stop the insanity

What a horribly poor choice Randy Newman was!! He must be senile or have a coke problem - he kept mumbling and wiping his nose. And he knows nothing about history!

If he had said the same thing about Jews on the Supreme Court that he said about Italians, there'd be a media firestorm! I will make sure the Italian American Anti-Defamation League hears his comments.

Steve, you owe all Apple fans a $100 rebate for having to watch that moron!! Please apologize for that poor choice of entertainers.

Jan 16, 08 - 02:01 am Comment from: TowerTone

Lilochris
from what I understand, the upgrade price for the iPod Touch was because of the way they structure the sales. TV and iPhones are eligible for these updates.

Also, with the iPhone, you are just getting enhancements. With the iTouch, you are actually getting new functions.

Jan 16, 08 - 07:35 am Comment from: Lilochris

But, R those functions really worth those extra $20?

Id understand free or maybe $4.99 if they want to profit.

Jan 16, 08 - 10:03 am Comment from: Big Al

@ Lilochris,

That's just it. Every iPod touch owner has that $20 decision to make.

As an iPod touch owner myself, the decision is easy. If the added features do not work outside of the USA the same way they do inside the USA, I will be saving my $20.

Jan 16, 08 - 02:21 pm Comment from: ?what?

hey respect....i lost all respect for the President of the United States when that fuckin asshole conveniently taped over his emails to hide the evidence of his illegal activities so why dont you kiss my ass and go sign up and go to Iraq and fukin die. you lil bitch. youre the problem with this country that randy was trying to point out. its idiot sheep like u that are ruining our country not some rockstar pointing out how were getting fucked by our leadership. george bush is a liar a thief and is guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors so u can fuck off if u dont like to hear it....its the TRUTH.

Jan 16, 08 - 02:24 pm Comment from: Whiners

Good grief. The whining!

BTW I did a FF through Randy Oldman's bumbling. It took 3 seconds to figure out he wasn't going to say anything worth listening to.
You liberals out there, (don't get huffy here, I'm not going to insult you) please understand that conservative people put up with blather like that constantly. WE are the ones accused of intolerance/insensitivity/etc. while SJ lets a guest insult conservative Apple customers.

On and on it goes.

Jan 16, 08 - 02:28 pm Comment from: ?what?

that POS george bush should be impeached, and, if found guilty, hanged until dead for treason against the United States!!! And if you dont thing he has egregiously committed treason against our beloved constitution not to mention the fact that he's violated the Geneva Convention, and has even committed the same acts of aggression that the Nazi's were hanged for at Nuremburg then you sir are a complete tool who deserves what ole george will shovel down your pathetic throat.

We can sum up our party in one sentence: "Save the whales and kill the babies!"

Where have I heard that before?.......
