Apparently this update doesn't just correct underlying bugs that are obvious to the user but will, yes - you know it's coming, make the OS snappier! It also improves power management of laptops, which has been much crappier on Leopard vs. Tiger. My battery life has shortened significantly since the day I upgraded.

QA, you are right. With all the stuff about faulty iPhones etc, we surely don't need something else to appear to be broken now. I surely enjoy Apple products. As I've advocated for purchasing the products, I've add a little egg on my face over the MobileMe mess and the recent 3G issues with the iPhone.

While the MobileMe debacle and iPhone 3G software issues are definitely problems for Apple, I think it also shows that Apple was correct in being cautious about opening up the iPhone to 3rd party developers and adding additional features too quickly.

I've had problems with many 3rd party apps crashing. Not that Safari has never crashed on me, but I have also had to restart my iPhone on several occasions because it had a software glitch and wasn't recognizing that the headphones had been added/removed, or something of that nature. Didn't have those problems with v. 1.0.

Apple needs to beef up it's quality testing, but as more variables and outside developers come into the iPhone fold, Apple will need to have the iPhone software rock solid to avoid bigger problems.

Hopefully a high level of testing and care is being placed into Mac OS X development also.
