Apple rejects ‘iBoobs’ from iTunes App Store (with video)
Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 09:13 AM EST

"An application that allows iPhone users to wobble a pair of breasts has been rejected by Apple's application store, denying iPhone geeks the nearest thing to sex they'll get this holiday season," Bill Ray writes for The Register.

MacDailyNews Take: It's amazing, but Bill knows the intimate details of all 18-20 million iPhone users' ostensibly sex-free lives. We iPhone users are like the Shakers: we're constantly recruiting new users. Not having to take care of babies and children gives us all more time to download apps and, of course, to tweet.

Ray continues, "The application was rejected on the grounds of 'objectionable content,' though with the caveat: 'If you believe that you can make the necessary changes so that iBoobs does not violate the iPhone SDK Agreement we encourage you to do so.'"

iBoobs:

Ray writes, "Apple is, of course, missing a trick here: a small tweak (ahem) would allow the most enthusiastic vibration to cause the Bulgarian airbags to burst their restraints. Even the rumour of such a feature would no doubt sell a lot of replacement iPhones - in fact, a rumour might work better."

Of course Apple doesn't want anything that would lead to porn, but have you used zintin lately? If you saw what people post on there, I'm surprised that app has lasted

Dec 23, 08 - 09:49 am Comment from: boulderfrog

Ah... jiggling boobies. What's not to like?

Dec 23, 08 - 09:53 am Comment from: Bandit Bill

That's one video link I simply couldn't resist viewing.

Dec 23, 08 - 09:57 am Comment from: Rout

That app is sitting on the fence. I personally don't degrade women, but this app gives a cute little chuckle even if you are a woman, but it shouldn't go any farther than that. Apple knows that someone would take it farther and make it springloaded, which then gets into the category of degradation and offensive to some. God created boobs of all sizes, so I think this app shouldn't make progress...just use your imaginination to think what would be next. There's a whole other industry if you need your brain permanently filled with that mess.

Dec 23, 08 - 10:02 am Comment from: hagar57

I'm with ya, boulderfrog.

Dec 23, 08 - 10:03 am Comment from: marco

i love the app...

Dec 23, 08 - 10:23 am Comment from: Jeeve Stobs

YouTube on iPhone already has loads of sexual content.

iBoobs needs to be more generic in scope and not be based solely on boobs. It needs to be a VR object viewer that only loads scenarios into it from the web. You could have various innocent 3D objects subjected to the motion control of the iPhone.

Then just make some of them be BOOBS.

If boobs are an optional *downloadable* piece of content *into* the app then Apple can't control that any more they can stop me from showing girls kissing in YouTube or visiting porn websites in Safari or sending pics via emails.

Dec 23, 08 - 10:29 am Comment from: Bob

Rout, get off your high horse. It's just jiggling boobs. Men likes boobs. Get over it.

Dec 23, 08 - 10:43 am Comment from: clyde

Coming up next...iBoner

Dec 23, 08 - 10:49 am Comment from: Jeremy

This is the most ridiculous rejection I have ever heard of. They are not even naked boobs or realistic boobs. We are talking cartoon boobs that don't look especially real. Avatar boobs. Apple will sell you a game where you can blow a guys head off, but cartoon boobs are off limits????

Only in the USA would something like this be considered "risque" (even though most of you don't know what "risque" means and can't spell it if you do.) Shameful, shameful act.

Dec 23, 08 - 10:51 am Comment from: Al

I guess my swinging iBalls app is gonna be rejected too.

Dec 23, 08 - 10:51 am Comment from: @ Rout

I know many many women who would buy this app. Women have boobs themselves you know and can see the funny side of them.

Dec 23, 08 - 10:54 am Comment from: cbwerner

What I don't understand is how they ban things like this and yet sell zillions of songs labeled "Explicit"

Dec 23, 08 - 10:56 am Comment from: Trent Waffleiron

That's awesome. That app should come standard with all new iphones.

Dec 23, 08 - 11:03 am Comment from: uh oh

If you don't like this you are obviously queer.

Dec 23, 08 - 11:06 am Comment from: MacRaven

So when is this followed by the swinging penis?

Dec 23, 08 - 11:10 am Comment from: Grigori

Prudes.

Dec 23, 08 - 11:11 am Comment from: Mark

If you shake them hard enough, does the top fall off?

Dec 23, 08 - 11:15 am Comment from: eugenebluessinger

Soon

Dec 23, 08 - 11:19 am Comment from: Jeeve Stobs

If they could somehow tie this to X-Plane it would make my bumpy flights less annoying.

Dec 23, 08 - 11:49 am Comment from: MacintoshSoftwareList.com

Boobs are God's gift to mankind. If he didn't want this app to make it he wouldn't have made boobs.

Dec 23, 08 - 12:06 pm Comment from: ericdano

How can "Pull my Finger" be approved, and this cannot be? Pull my Finger has to be the STUPIDEST App ever. This one is at least as stupid.........and as offensive. If you are going to approve an app that makes fart noises, but not approve an app of moving boobs......what gives?

Dec 23, 08 - 01:16 pm Comment from: Cubert

You gotta admit these developers have some balls.

Wait a minute.....just got an idea that will appeal to the gay crowd.

Dec 23, 08 - 01:22 pm Comment from: Cubert

Apparently so did "Al".

Dec 23, 08 - 01:30 pm Comment from: The Other Steve

1. Apple rejecting this app surprises anyone because why?

2. Yes, you can get porn on an iPhone, just develop a web app. Apple doesn't control web apps.

3. BTW MDN, I have four kids.

Dec 23, 08 - 01:54 pm Comment from: Jake

Apple was right to reject this app. It's basically softcore porn. Sphomoric humor (pull my finger) is one thing, porn is another. Ditto for generic video apps like Youtube, that go a little farter. Apple chooses to draw the line at exactly the right place, despite the cluelessness exibited by the posters on this thread. Kudos to Apple!!

Dec 23, 08 - 02:13 pm Comment from: 3rdKidney

I've been debating buying an iPod touch for months now. I'm not into games and I just couldn't justify spending $$ for one when I already have a perfectly good iPod. This app would make buying one a no brainer. Too bad being politically correct overrides the great marketing tool this app could be. I'm all for respecting women and upholding 'family values', but I am a guy.

Dec 23, 08 - 02:15 pm Comment from: Cartoonasaurus

Softcore porn? LOL
It is G-RATED, you dumb cluck!
A majority of teen girls dress more revealingly than that...

Dec 23, 08 - 03:28 pm Comment from: Brau

Personally I could care less about this boobie app but I do care about Apple's role as a censor. If they want to add a warning, rating, or disclaimers, I'm fine with that, but to disallow apps for any reason beyond malware is going beyond their right. Freedom of choice will be my primary decision when looking for my next smart phone, and to this date the main reason I have not bought a second iPhone for my wife.

As usual it's okay to sell apps depicting no end of violence with blatant killing and gore, but no suggestive sexy content please ... that's BAAAD!

Meanwhile back at iTunes the Rap stars are going on about cappin' folk, smackin' their biatch, and making racist slurs. Apparently there's nothing wrong with Apple providing that nor a world of porn available via Apple's own bundled Safari browser.

Dec 23, 08 - 03:37 pm Comment from: Wade

"Banned by Apple" will soon join the exalted status of "Banned in Boston", and lead to a similar outcome- rampant sales of such items.

Dec 23, 08 - 06:54 pm Comment from: Rod Smart

You're an idiot Jake.
And as someone allready pointed out, Apple sells explicit music with f-bombs all over the place. But oh my god, we can't have this.
Stoopid.

Dec 23, 08 - 08:55 pm Comment from: ddd

Apple kept abreast of this one...

Dec 23, 08 - 08:58 pm Comment from: ddd

Does this mean iBeaver is out as well?

Dec 23, 08 - 11:50 pm Comment from: KingMel

If you move the phone in a perpendicular motion to the screen they ought to bounce out towards you like one of those paddleball games and then flatten out as they get bounced again.

Apple will eventually have to deal with "objectionable content." The easiest move would be to create a store within a store, kinda like those soft porn back rooms in the old video stores.

Dec 24, 08 - 08:08 am Comment from: Veronica

they jiggle just like mine smile
