“Apple has released iOS 4.2 build 8C134 for both iPad and iPhone/iPod touch devices, indicating the company is close to public release of the new operating system, originally slated for delivery this month,” Daniel Eran Dilger reports for AppleInsider..
“Apple’s chief executive Steve Jobs demonstrated iOS 4.2 at the company’s iPod event early in September, showing off new features such as AirPlay wireless streaming of audio, video and photos to the new Apple TV or other AirPlay-compliant devices, an expansion of the company’s existing, audio-only AirTunes feature,” Dilger reports. “Jobs also introduced the company’s entirely new AirPrint wireless printing architecture, designed to enable users to create hard copies of web pages, emails and photos managed through a new Print Center app.”
Dilger reports, “The new update will also finally bring multitasking features and iOS Folders to the iPad, along with a variety of other features currently only available on the iPhone and iPod touch, such as support for multiple email aliases, a unified inbox, and messages organized by threads in Mail, and the ability to open attachments in third party apps.”

Taimur Asad reports for Redmond Pie, “In a reply to one of his many followers on Twitter, MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that ultrasn0w unlock for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G on iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2, with 05.14.02 baseband will be released in a day or two at most, once iOS 4.2 is released to public.”

hopefully on ipad 2 we will get more then 256Mb of memory. Maybe 4.2 will help with better memory or something but i hate that when i switch pages in safari and come back it reloads all the time

Truth be told, I’m a little disappointed with apples multitasking and folders for iPad. I mean they work great on iPhone but sometimes u have to make it different. I was hoping for something more like exposé or spaces instead of the same exact thing. But I’m going to love airplay and wireless printing.

Will 4.2 make my iPhone 4’s Bluetooth problem go away? Come on Apple, every mobile phone manufacturer & his dog gets Bluetooth right. Make me a better phone already.
