Probably just another attempt to plug the "make your own ringtone" hole ...

Does it break the ringtone end-around? Does it break iToner?

I won't be upgrading until I know.

What about you?

> I won't be upgrading until I know

Is making ringtones THAT important to you? I always use a ringtone that actually sounds like a phone ringing.

Sep 17, 07 - 08:02 pm Comment from: Stenar

Other "bug fixes" means it breaks homemade ringtones. It did mine. :(

I'm typing this on my iPod biaches!

If your ringtone was also a defibrillator, I might understand the concern.

Yes, Apple has locked iTunes with iPods now

Only iTunes can access the files on a iPod.

Carefully sliding the DRM prick up our collective asses a inch at a time. Can't you just feel the walls closing in?

Wait till you see what EFI has got in store for us after PPC is history. Intel Mac's will be like Cable TV boxes and a new EULA will state your just renting and you don't actually own the OS on the machine. Apple will do stealth updates through EFI and more.

Oh yes, it's coming. Microsoft is already doing it, both bending and taking the control of the content creators in their behinds, hoping they don't pull thier content out like NBC has.

Why did NBC pull their content? To force Apple to take more sringent DRM. Plain and simple.

I have heard rumors that iToner will still work, but when you first sync it with the new update it wipes out all of your "custom" ringtones.

Another rumor about this update is that it totally removes Rogue Amoeba's MakeiPhoneRingtone from your phone. Trying to re-install will fail.

Wait a few days, someone will have a workaround I'm sure. They've already cracked the new hashing code on the iPod classic DB

Already Cracked

My phone I want whatever ringtone I feel like.

There is only so much F'ing Xylophone I can take.

The irony is I can't even buy my ringtone off of iTunes.

What? iTunes/iTMS/iPod lock-in? But Apple doesn't do that. Just ask MDN...

Can someone please direct me to the thread where we talk about the iPhone's laundry list of flaws? There's a lot, and I'm itching to get 'em out.

Cracker...
just pull that blue cable out of your machine and rip DVDs instead. Problem solved.

Sep 17, 07 - 09:12 pm Comment from: simple

iPhone's laundry list of flaws?

I think this was it:
the iPhone costs money to buy
the iPhone costs money to connect to a telephone network
the iPhone doesn't connect from every square foot on the planet
the iPhone only comes in one color
the iPhone doesn't do video editing

Feel free to add to the list!

iToner works fine on my iPhone with this update

Sep 17, 07 - 10:09 pm Comment from: @Cracker/MacDude/Peterson

ok, we get it already, you don't like EFI or Trusted Computing. Now would you please SHUT THE FSCK UP ALREADY!

Gawd almighty you're the most annoying little twit on the net.

The lockin only affects music and not disk mode correct?

MDNMW: Had as in I Had planned to use my 160gb iPod to store files in disk mode

Man... I also notified MDN about this. I even mentioned the tidbit that this update adds support for closed captioning when available, but they left that part out.

I'm not sure exactly what that's all about, but I hope it means that iTunes video will be getting subtitles--My hearing is terrible. :(
