1st ! wink Sounds like Apple is sorting out a good bunch of niggles S.L. had - will have to make the move from Leopard soon...

Nov 09, 09 - 04:50 pm Comment from: Wingsy

"an issue that might cause your system to logout unexpectedly"

That's ME! Hopefully this is the REAL fix. Let you know on the other side.

Nov 09, 09 - 05:01 pm Comment from: Hentercenter

• a graphics distortion in Safari Top Sites

This happens to me. Not a big deal, but just the fact that they fixed this makes it look so much better. grin

Nov 09, 09 - 05:02 pm Comment from: ApplePi

I haven't had any of these things happen but I have had other things: Quicktime quits for no reason, Mail freaks out, random app quits...

let's hope it helps

Nov 09, 09 - 05:06 pm Comment from: Trvth

I won't update until someone else has who's discovered whether it's snappier.

Nov 09, 09 - 05:07 pm Comment from: G4Dualie

OS 10.6.2 rocks and it was my idea!

Nov 09, 09 - 05:07 pm Comment from: iPhoner

Safari Top Sites

Does anybody here use this?

I always forget it's even there.

Nov 09, 09 - 05:08 pm Comment from: Wingsy

Oh yeah... the spontaneous logout-login problem is GONE!

Nov 09, 09 - 05:09 pm Comment from: iPhoner

@ G4Dualie

... and it was my idea!

A meme is born.

Nov 09, 09 - 05:13 pm Comment from: Mac User since 1984

Also seems to fix an annoying bug that caused an application to lock up if you used the Spotlight search box in the Open/Attach dialogue box to locate the file to attach.... fingers crossed that this holds up. It was a giant productivity sinkhole.

Nov 09, 09 - 05:19 pm Comment from: TowerTone

"an issue that might cause your system to logout unexpectedly"

I tried to blame OS X, but then realized it was the chili relleno from the night before .....

Nov 09, 09 - 05:19 pm Comment from: Jamie

"issues when using NTFS and WebDAV file servers"

I hope this fixes the DNS loopback bug that meant it could take up to 5 minutes before it displays any folders or contents on Windows Servers...

...I know it is a bug in Windows that causes this, but since the idiots at Redmond will never get round to fixing it, I hope Apple have provided a workaround. I had to downgrade my work Mac to Leopard because of this showstopper.

Nov 09, 09 - 05:22 pm Comment from: macca

is this 10C540?

Nov 09, 09 - 05:24 pm Comment from: Bob

I really hate to say it -- never have before -- but it really DOES seem snappier. iTunes seems to show up way faster. Mail, Safari...huh!

Nov 09, 09 - 05:28 pm Comment from: Bob

10C540, yes.

I still have the "bug" of putting the mouse pointer over the dashed line in the dock between the running apps and the minimized windows/trash/apps folder so it turns into the <|> cursor, then moving the pointer off the dock onto the desktop and having it stay <|>, instead of going back to the regular arrow. I guess I can live with it. smile

Nov 09, 09 - 05:35 pm Comment from: ZevFan

Joel,

Because Apple works hard to refine and polish their product, you resent that? That makes them like MS? Enjoy your misery with Windows 7.

Nov 09, 09 - 05:36 pm Comment from: Lol

Joel - Are you kidding? You think that any eye candy 7ista can dish up is better than the OSX. Considering maintenance, viri and the like - go for.

Let us know how your experience goes in a couple of months.

Nov 09, 09 - 05:42 pm Comment from: walk away Bill just walk away

Windows 7 was my idea......... How do you like me now, cause I never really like you.

Nov 09, 09 - 05:42 pm Comment from: @iPhoner

I use Top Sites as the default when I open a new tab. (Don't know if that's a setting or not.) I find it very handy for places I go often. I've also had times when my wife is looking over my shoulder and she'll notice that her sister's blog has been updated. Then she me makes me click on it.

Nov 09, 09 - 05:44 pm Comment from: BlackWolf

@iphoner

that meme was born in the 90's by one former Vice President and thankfully failed Presidental contender concerning the foundation of the interwebz.

Nov 09, 09 - 05:47 pm Comment from: Joel

Mac OS is behind

Nov 09, 09 - 05:48 pm Comment from: Jeff

A computer were things just work, were my media is on my TV, in my pocket, on my phone, everything just works together.

I'm Steve Jobs, I'm a Mac and Windows 7 was totally my idea back in 1982 we called it Macintosh.

Nov 09, 09 - 05:49 pm Comment from: TopTracker

Getting off topic, but.....I use Reset Safari about every second or third web site I am on - so Top Sites is pretty much useless to me.

But I'm sure all the sites/services tracking your every web movement must really enjoy it, as it's just more information about you they can sell to others.

Nov 09, 09 - 05:50 pm Comment from: Snow Leopard

How "snappy" is it?

Nov 09, 09 - 05:51 pm Comment from: bob

10.6.2 installed ... only one problem ... broke my Mail notification plug-in .... I was using Herald .....

Nov 09, 09 - 06:04 pm Comment from: DogGone

It's snappy-er

Nov 09, 09 - 06:15 pm Comment from: rws

"an issue that caused data to be deleted when using a guest account"

That was too Microsoft-like for comfort.

Nov 09, 09 - 06:21 pm Comment from: Mac Dev Vet

"• the reliability of menu extras"
Is it the improvement of lameness called services as contextual menu items or they actually brought back the contextual menu plug-ins support?

Nov 09, 09 - 06:26 pm Comment from: coolfactor

@Mac Dev Vet

Menu Extras are the icon-ic menus on the right side of the menu bar.

Nov 09, 09 - 06:42 pm Comment from: Scot Murphy

10.6.2 didn't work right. I can still see the political BS in MDN.

Nov 09, 09 - 06:43 pm Comment from: January 24, 1984

My main Snow-bug was saving an email in Apple Mail. Used to lock-up about 50% of the time. Seems to be repaired.

Definitely snappier!

Nov 09, 09 - 06:54 pm Comment from: The Other Steve

Funny how "an issue that caused data to be deleted when using a guest account" was listed last.

Does that qualify as a "one more thing!" wink

Nov 09, 09 - 06:59 pm Comment from: Hotinplaya

Down loading now, the only problem I have, is iTunes takes very long to load with the spinning ball, hope this helps

Nov 09, 09 - 07:02 pm Comment from: Micro Me

…"an issue in which the brightness setting may not be remembered on restart"… Yay, fixed!

And yep, some bits qualify for the "sn" word.

Nov 09, 09 - 07:02 pm Comment from: NOFX

Just updated and it changed some of my file names on the desktop and the sound is not working at all - Cannot increase or decrease the sound. Tried all the basic troubleshooting and nothing.

Nov 09, 09 - 07:05 pm Comment from: KevinOpp

ummmm....no joke. this thing is definitely more responsive. i haven't bug-checked at all ot even seen if past bugs are gone, but i would say it feels like a 30%ish speed gain when opening folders or files. pretty amazing.

Nov 09, 09 - 07:13 pm Comment from: TowerTone

Had been using Air-Tunes all day on my Apple TV. It lost sync so I restarted iTunes, no help, restarted iMac, no help, rebooted Apple TV, all is good......so far

Nov 09, 09 - 07:19 pm Comment from: NOFX

Update: The update changed a lot of my system preferences, which is why my sound was not working. It changed my output sound source to another option, an option I never use, so I just moved it back to the macbook pro's internal speaker. Some other preferences, like screensaver, were also changed. I have no idea for the file names changes. I don't do any modifications to my mac, it's pretty much factory... so this is pretty strange. Still love it though!!!

Nov 09, 09 - 07:19 pm Comment from: KevinOpp

even the beach ball spins faster!!! i'm serious!!

Nov 09, 09 - 07:38 pm Comment from: Jorge

I still have my tv shows on the movie folder in frontrow. Does anybody know how to solve this?

Nov 09, 09 - 08:16 pm Comment from: DeltaNick

There is a MAJOR problem with Apple's Mail program, and it has NOT been fixed.

Check it out: Each time I send an e-mail, Mail shuffles the e-mail addresses in the Mail Address Book.

Nov 09, 09 - 08:46 pm Comment from: Think

Anyone in prepress verify the Font fixes?

According to Apple they fixed...
Fonts fixes provided for:
• an issue with font spacing
• an issue in which some Fonts are missing
• font duplication issues
• an issue with some PostScript Type 1 fonts not working properly

Nov 09, 09 - 09:04 pm Comment from: @ BlackWolf

Kindly STFU

Nov 09, 09 - 09:41 pm Comment from: ericdano

Updated really screwed up a couple of fonts for me. I had to delete them from Library/Fonts and reinstall them from where they came from. Pain in the ass.

And the sound thing was kinda like........stupid. Why muck with what people have as default?

Nov 09, 09 - 10:01 pm Comment from: Piss

The damn icons in stacks are still way too big and no way to change them. Was hoping they would address this.

Nov 09, 09 - 10:01 pm Comment from: MacRaven

@iPhoner
I use the Safari top sites, not all the time but it has it's uses.

Nov 09, 09 - 10:07 pm Comment from: TomV

After I updated it turned off my audio line out to my external speakers for some reason. Not a big deal though.

Nov 09, 09 - 10:46 pm Comment from: William

Four finger swipe 100 times better. 100% fixed for me. itunes still pinwheels on start up and is slow. Im still waiting to see the snappiness. but it seems ok. could be better.

@jeff LOL, im going to use that if you don't mind.

Nov 09, 09 - 11:47 pm Comment from: Amorstus

Great update overall except the fact that it jacked up my itunes and now all my songs are basically crap (songs still play fine using Quicktime). Looks like I will be reinstalling itunes...

Nov 10, 09 - 12:37 am Comment from: silverhawk

I still have 10.4.11 n my MBP. Should I update to SL yet or wait for 6.3?

Nov 10, 09 - 01:24 am Comment from: mike
