@Gilles

If you suffer from stability issues, you'll may be better served by a crutch instead of web browser... duh! rolleyes

Nov 24, 08 - 06:12 pm Comment from: Jubei

My improved stability is not only snappier, but its snappalicous.

Nov 24, 08 - 06:13 pm Comment from: Foreigner

I'll take the alligator soup...and make it snappy.

will this keep safari from crashing every time i click the red button?

i expect it will be snappier too.

Nov 24, 08 - 06:39 pm Comment from: Steve

+++ Snappier here too!!!!!!!

Nov 24, 08 - 06:39 pm Comment from: Ottawa Mark

All "snappy" jokes aside, any ideas why they'd update a patch as recent as 3.2? Seems to be there must have been a serious bug in there somewhere!

Nov 24, 08 - 06:55 pm Comment from: Jeremy

@ Ottawa Mark - pretty sure you are right, but we will likely never know what the problem was.

As for all the crashy comments ...

I have used Safari since the 2.0 version and never had any great amount of crashes or freezes to mention. No where NEAR as many as FireFox, IE etc.

Sure everyone's experience differs, but I get a bit miffed when a new release comes out and we are treated to all these "hope it doesn't crash so much!" type of comments.

For the vast majority of users Safari is THE most stable, crash-free browser there ever was. No matter how many people whine about their particular problems.

Nov 24, 08 - 07:00 pm Comment from: You know you're a cute little heartbreaker

Still using firefox. oh snap!

Nov 24, 08 - 07:27 pm Comment from: Marty

It's snappalappin'! wink

Nov 24, 08 - 07:37 pm Comment from: Draven

After this update, Safari is constantly freezing on me. mad

Nov 24, 08 - 07:41 pm Comment from: Macaday

I agree with folks above who say Safari is the most reliable browser on the Mac.

I rate it a 9 versus 7.5 or less for others I've tried.

Nov 24, 08 - 08:11 pm Comment from: Sir Real B. Czar

I just tried to open MDN with Safari 3.2 and it hung up. Meanwhile, I launched Webkit, and it loaded MDN extra snappily before Safari 3.2 finally choked.

Now to update to 3.2.1.....

Nov 24, 08 - 08:11 pm Comment from: Gilles

@ Big Mouth

Apple says: This update includes stability improvements and is recommended for all Safari users.

Since I'm a Safari user, my stability was improved. I guess it's because of the new "Stability Improvement Field" included in Safari 3.2.1.

But will it stop the really annoying pop up windows on the MDN website?? It is the only site I get pop ups from.

Nov 24, 08 - 09:19 pm Comment from: MacFhearghaile

JAVA is broken on my iMac 2.4 when I use Safari as my browser, it works fine on Firefox and iCab. Safari has become progressively worse with each update so I switched to Firefox as my main browser a couple of months ago and don't plan on going back.

Nov 24, 08 - 09:40 pm Comment from: KenC

Still not the latest WebKit, as it only scores 75 on the AcidTest3.

Nov 24, 08 - 10:41 pm Comment from: jonahan

WTF a restart again?! Apple please stop hooking Safari so damn far into your OS.

Nov 24, 08 - 11:13 pm Comment from: anaknipedro

I've been using Safari 4 with webkit nightlies for months now. Now that is snappy. The only issue I have is with macdailynews.com–one of the slowest loading websites around.

Nov 24, 08 - 11:54 pm Comment from: auren

If I open a folder with multiple bookmarks, Safari crashes every time. This happened in the previous update and it happens consistently with 3.2.1
This is the first time I've ever had an Apple update that did not pass muster.

Nov 25, 08 - 12:14 am Comment from: Bwana

Safari's crashes are much snappier!

Nov 25, 08 - 01:50 am Comment from: thethirdshoe

Snappypaloozy! cool smile

Nov 25, 08 - 02:35 am Comment from: UltraVisitor

I'm running the Safari 4.0 preview from the ADC. Now that is snappy!

Nov 25, 08 - 02:35 am Comment from: MacSmiley

@Bwana LOL

Not so funny, however, is the fact that I STILL can't get on Flickr... ARGH!!

Nov 25, 08 - 11:30 am Comment from: Pithy Helmet

@Jeremy: you wrote, "For the vast majority of users Safari is THE most stable, crash-free browser there ever was. No matter how many people whine about their particular problems."

How do you know this? Independent research? Speak personally to "the vast majority of users"?

I like Safari and prefer to use it - but I also use Firefox - and Safari crashes far more often than Firefox.

This is the first safari version EVER that keeps freezing right after opening. any ideas? :(

Nov 26, 08 - 12:30 am Comment from: JoshtheiMacGuy

What!! Another release of Safari? When are they going to get it right? I think I will stay with FireFox which is a far better and more secure browser IMHO.

Nov 28, 08 - 11:19 am Comment from: s

Did anyone noticed that Safari is now supporting Extended Validation SSL? The name of company shows up on top right corner in green. Much nicer than green URL bar at top.
