Nov 11, 09 - 05:25 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

Not sure if it was Safari 4.0.4 or the 10.6.2 update, but Top Sites finally works properly without screen artifacts.

Finally, the clear recent searches item has been restored in the search box. This, I believe, had been missing since Safari 4.0

Snappy!

Oh, and it scrolls like butter.

Nov 11, 09 - 05:41 pm Comment from: Matt

@ChrissyOne: It was 10.6.2!

Nov 11, 09 - 05:44 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

@ Matt

Thanks! I just did both the updates a few minutes ago, so either way, it's working now.
Nice to have Clear Recent back!

But does it fix this you tube/flash slowness?

Nov 11, 09 - 06:20 pm Comment from: nekogami13

Did they fix cookie handling yet?
Is it still all or nothing or have they finally included white listing?

Nov 11, 09 - 06:21 pm Comment from: Famous Grouse

What is this, update Wednesday? First 10.6.2, then MS Office, Parallels, Omnigraffle and now Safari updates all with 24 hours....

Methinks the 'net has made it too easy to spew out updates.

"Snappy!

Oh, and it scrolls like butter."

If you used Smart Scroll, it would scroll like silicone. http://www.marcmoini.com/sx_en.html

"Methinks the 'net has made it too easy to spew out updates."

Its never "too easy". I'm thankful for the rapidity of them.

Nov 11, 09 - 07:38 pm Comment from: Jamie M

About time - 10.6.2 and this Safari update seems to have fixed the all-too-frequent slowdowns

Nov 11, 09 - 08:28 pm Comment from: Nobody

@ChrissyOne & Matt,

it's probably Safari 4.0.4, haven't downloaded, but updated to 10.6.2, still having screen artifacts

Nov 11, 09 - 09:31 pm Comment from: Scot Murphy

@ ron-- $19 for an app that changes my scrolling? Seriously?

Nov 11, 09 - 09:43 pm Comment from: ron

Scott, try it for free. I wouldn't be without it.

Come on, Apple... That's the second time this month that I had to restart my iMac. smile You're cramping my style. What's next, a security update before Thanksgiving?

Nov 11, 09 - 10:15 pm Comment from: Hercule Eelbait

Even MDN opens faster...

Nov 11, 09 - 10:16 pm Comment from: Frobots

No tabs on top option yet ?

Nov 11, 09 - 10:31 pm Comment from: Cubert

Nov 11, 09 - 10:44 pm Comment from: silverwarloc

Nov 11, 09 - 11:13 pm Comment from: Ampar

It feels good to have holes plugged.

And completely unrelated, the iPhone needs a MUCH stronger vibrate alert.

Nov 11, 09 - 11:15 pm Comment from: newton*

@ChrissyOne: Best wishes to a wonderful person!

Nov 12, 09 - 02:32 am Comment from: ChrissyOne

@ Ampar

It also needs rabbit ears.

Nov 12, 09 - 04:21 am Comment from: Yours Smugly

Software Update also gave me a huge security update along with Safari 4.0.4. Using Leopard here.

I hope this eliminates the extremely annoying beachball sessions you often get with Safari 4. Especially when opening a new tab.

Nov 12, 09 - 07:49 am Comment from: DX

Yup, here's hoping it stops the freezing after returning from half an hour or so in another app. I was having to force quit Safari every other day, it was annoying.

Nov 12, 09 - 08:20 am Comment from: chaz

Safari experience has eroded, not sure if it's Safari or my crappy comcast connection. Just updated, I'll be watching to see if the situation improves, but Safari on Mac@ home vs Firefox on XP @ work, Firefox is smoking Safari right now.

Nov 12, 09 - 09:29 am Comment from: Jaxson

How do you clear the typed browsing history in the address bar? I used the reset safari option with all checked, didn't work.

Nov 12, 09 - 10:47 am Comment from: GRANDxADMIRAL

@chaz

I would not compare your home internet connection to your work connection, and blame Safari

Nov 12, 09 - 10:54 am Comment from: JES42

@Jaxson
Click on HISTORY at the top of the page, scroll to the bottom, click on Clear History.

If you don't want History to show, click on Safari, click on Private Browsing...

Nov 12, 09 - 10:57 am Comment from: JES42

@Cubert

Didn't notice when I downloaded the update but I went to webkit.org and got the latest version, r50840.

Nov 17, 09 - 11:14 am Comment from: Maddan

Since Apple has dropped Safari support for Panther isn't it time they dropped Safari support for XP. XP is ancient compared to Panther.
