Apple today released Security Update 2006-004 which is recommended for all Mac Pro systems running Mac OS X v10.4.7 (build 8K1079), and systems running Mac OS X Server v10.4.7 (Universal), and improves the security of the following components:
• ImageIO
• OpenSSH
The update is available via Software Update and also as a standalone installer.

We know there is a extraordinary amount of flaws in these new Intel processors, the OS will get updated to work around them.
This will go on for quite some time and early adopters take their chances.
Wait for a few months after the Dual Quad Kentsfields and BlueRay drives are released to buy.
Nobody beleives Steve when he says these new Mac Pro’s are 1.6 -2.1x as fast as a PPC Quad, if that was so, IBM would have the G5 at 3 Ghz by now.
Wait for the Kentsfields, trust me.
Figures. A billion of a second after release and Apple has a security problem. Who would have guessed? This overpriced disaster is only good for one thing — burning a hole in your pocket. Plus Apple picks the crappiest video cards on the planet for this turkey. As usual the only place to get real computers is from HP or Dell. Not only do you get the latest and greatest, but you don’t have to pay the Steve Jobs tax.

Okay, the Dell has a video card that costs about $50 more, but the Mac dual-boots, comes with a slew of applications and is virus free.
That’s the best damn tax I’ve ever paid.
The crappiest video card on the planet is the cheapest option, they also offer goodness like Radeon X1900 XT as option (almost as good as XTX but near enough) … or FOUR of the crappiest video card on the planet to power 8 displays.

Isn’t this just the same security update we had not too long ago, except configured for the Mac Pro and XServes? Probably couldn’t apply the update to the drive before they got shipped out.
I fail to see the major insecurity claims here that weren’t addressed several days ago.
