Apple sells refurbished iPhones for $100 off via online store
Wednesday, August 22, 2007 - 12:21 PM EST

"Apple Inc. started offering used iPhones at a discount on its online store, less than two months after the combination mobile phone and music player first went on sale," Ville Heiskanen and Connie Guglielmo report for Bloomberg.

"Consumers willing to buy a refurbished version pay $100 less than the regular price, according to Apple's Web site. A used 4- gigabyte model sells for $399, and the 8-gigabyte version costs $499. Apple also offers refurbished units of its other products," Heiskanen and Guglielmo report.

"Apple spokeswoman Jennifer Bowcock declined to say how many used iPhones are in stock," Heiskanen and Guglielmo report.

MacDailyNews Note: Apple typically offers refurbished products once a reasonable supply becomes available. Two months or so after a product's debut is not atypical and, given the large interest in iPhones for media reviews, is pretty much expected.

Apple Certified Refurbished products are pre-owned Apple products that undergo Apple's stringent refurbishment process prior to being offered for sale. All Apple Certified Refurbished products are covered by Apple's One-Year Limited Warranty. For extended coverage, you have the option of purchasing the AppleCare Protection Plan with your Apple Certified Refurbished product. Supplies are limited.

I wonder if these iPhones were damaged in shipping or something similar...certainly there can't be a huge stock of iPhone returns after only 2 months.

Can there?

These would also include returned review units.

Wait a second! Now I'm cornfused. Every fool out there that I know tells me that the iPhone doesn't have a keyboard so you can't type on it. And, it only works with a Mac.

Isn't this true?

Now if Apple would just sell a GSM signal booster so I could get decent reception in my home.

Aug 22, 07 - 01:55 pm Comment from: DOD?

there were reports of iPhones dead on delivery, so it's possible part of the supply is from that.

"certainly there can't be a huge stock of iPhone returns after only 2 months."

Sure there can, anybody who brought an iPhone early hoping to sell it for a lot on eBay probably returned it under the 30 day return policy as there was never any real iPhone shortage.

Likewise people how brought one and hated it had 30 days to give it back.
