"I am putting a sell on Apple, the company that created the iPhone" never sounds old to me!

Oct 08, 07 - 03:28 pm Comment from: wandering joe

AAPL is going through the roof. Gonna look good when they pass IBM and Intel.

Oct 08, 07 - 03:31 pm Comment from: G Spank

This stock is making dreams come true for those lucky enough to see where it was going 5 years ago. I invested right after OS X came out. It was obvious then that Apple was going places with Steve Jobs back. It's been pretty funny watching all my PC friends slowly coming around.

Okay, call me an idiot!

* Sept 6, bought AAPL options for $47,000
* Sept 21, sold said options for $61,000
Nice profit of $13,600 will buy plenty of Apple products.

Well, TODAY, those options would sell for $191,500!!!

Shows what I know (or don't know).

Oct 08, 07 - 03:37 pm Comment from: Jubei

BOOM! Has Laura Goldman made any new statements yet on Apple Stock? I'd love to see what her comments are today regarding Apple Stock.

Oct 08, 07 - 03:37 pm Comment from: iNobody

To show what growth is expected,
It would also be good to have a comparison of twelve month trailing revenue, and PE ratio.

Anyone know of an easy way to pull that info up quickly? (for the entire list... rather than one-by-one)

Oct 08, 07 - 03:42 pm Comment from: former Bay Aryan

Notice that 6 of the 13 companies on MDN's 'selected current market value' list, are located in the SF Bay Area.

Talk about a brain trust!

@MadMac

I hear your pain. Did not invest as much as you did but I haven't sold yet.
Sitting today on a nice ~$132,000 potential market value.

I keep holding. I am confident it'll reach a market value of ~$200k. Just a matter of time, IMHO.

These days I'm making $300 to $400 a day on AAPL... Makes me really happy for you folks who must be doing SO much better, having gotten in years ago.

Have fun with the MKIII ChrissyOne! (It'll surely be in your range.) How's life decisions going? Early thirties is a strange time. Seems like an age of disillusionment and maybe the beginning of wisdom... Or not... Wasn't it Socrates who said the truly wise are those who realize that they aren't wise at all. Great stuff. But the real question is where does that leave you...

Interesting, how making tall cash doesn't necessarily cause life to make any more sense.

Bought 25 shares @ $14 each ($350 investment).
Stock split to give me 50 shares.
50 shares now worth over $8395.
Not bad. Not bad at all.
Just wish I had bought more.

AAPL has more than doubled in one year. What would prevent it from doing the same thing again in the next one year?

Now, if we explore this proposition, that would mean that its stock
price would reach $330 by mid-October next year. That would also mean that its market capitalisation would reach $288B. Should I remind readers that MSFT is currently (and has been for the past five years) hovering around $280B?

Does anyone here believe it is possible that AAPL would actually
eclipse MSFT as the biggest computer company in the world in so much as ONE YEAR??

I myself am extremely intrigued by that possibility.

As for others, we should be adding Intel to the second list just about next week.

Oct 08, 07 - 04:00 pm Comment from: Dom

I am putting a sell on LSG Capital the company that Laura Goldman founded.

@ Shogun
"Seems like an age of disillusionment and maybe the beginning of wisdom..."

I'm hoping that this is that case. I've certainly had my fill of Corporate America™ and its false promise of stability and security. Fortunately AAPL and my own financial cunning is helping me break free of that. I've decided that being a photographer is the only thing I'm ever going to love doing, so that's what I'm going to do. Dammit. =)
If anyone cares, I've put a new photo page up. Enjoy!

AAPL stock is too expensive. Buy AAPL options instead. Turned $100K into $225K in 11 days. Thanks, Steve!

Oct 08, 07 - 04:13 pm Comment from: Someone Else

Is LSG Capital still in business even? If I were a client and was "persuaded" into selling AAPL back in May, most likely I would've gone on to finding other "consultants" with more vision.

Or maybe Ms. Goldman's goal was to drive down the stock price a bit so she could get a bargain?

Oct 08, 07 - 04:14 pm Comment from: matalino

I want to vomit.

If I first bought AAPL 5 years ago when I first wanted to when it was $20/share I would have made over $160,000 PROFIT as of today.

I'm going to be sitting by the toilet if anyone needs me...

Oct 08, 07 - 04:14 pm Comment from: Macaday

This about one little item last week. It went like this:

Get your head around HP, Microsoft, Adobe, Nokia, Motorola and Sony. All of them being together being the same company.

Yep. That company may just be Apple.

$167 may look very very cheap in 18 months time...

Oct 08, 07 - 04:32 pm Comment from: Mitch

I can't believe the stock went up so much today after Friday's huge gain.

Earning money in the stock market = fun!!

Long term outlook for AAPL still looks good. Apple still has a super compelling product in the PC space + small existing market share = plenty of room to grow. Throw in the iPod + iTunes juggernaut (with great new product refreshes) and the iPhone and this company really does have serious room to grow.

I don't know about the short term but I am holding on to my AAPL.

Oct 08, 07 - 04:34 pm Comment from: Charleston

Nice photos ChrissyOne.

Microsoft's chances of reinventing itself (like IBM did after its fall from absolute dominance) is not improbable but it will take a few years - if it happens at all.
That means that Apple has got a few years of grace.
I believe that in about two or three years Apple will have about 15% of the computer market in the U.S. (8% or 9% world-wide) and will have created a new, global platform with a hand-held wifi computer ( iPhone/iPod).
My prediction: AAPL will double in value every year for at least the next 3 years.

"My prediction: AAPL will double in value every year for at least the next 3 years."

It'll be a trillion-dollar company if it does. And I'll be living on a big boat somewhere.

Approaching 3X the market cap of Dell.

How do you like them AAPLs, Mike?

Oct 08, 07 - 05:05 pm Comment from: anthony007

The law of big numbers is/will be catching up with Apple guys. Talk of trillion dollar market cap seems a bit absurd to me.

I would like to see Apple start buying back it's own shares or start making strategic acquisitions. Consider also the possibility down the road of Apple splitting up the company into two or three parts. Eg, a hardware company, software company and internet company. Just something to consider.

You sold on Canon?
Or can you be talked into NIKON?

(Sorry if it's off topic!)

Oct 08, 07 - 06:22 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

@ bluefine

You might as well just shout "Mac or PC!" ;P

Canon is currently winning the sensor war, and I already have a few EF lenses, so I'm all Canon. I don't mind Nikon, but I always find myself fumbling around with the controls. Everything on a Canon is right where I expect it to be. Either way, though, they're both so good, if you can make good pictures with either, you're not much of a photographer.

And yes, it's way off topic. wink

Oct 08, 07 - 06:22 pm Comment from: @chrissyOne

Oh, i am jealous! I'm just working up to getting a 40D and you're all "check out my MkIII" wink

I'm afraid to ask what selection of L glass you have....lol.

Oct 08, 07 - 06:25 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

I actually have no 'L' glass yet, just EF (I don't waste my money on EF-S). My first one will be the 50mm 1.2. That lens gives me chills just thinking about it. Most of the stuff I shoot is done with the 15mm fisheye or the 28-135 IS.

Oct 08, 07 - 06:29 pm Comment from: @

LOL! The 50mm was my first.....BEAUTIFUL LENS, you cannot go wrong with it. May I also suggest the 28-70 and the 70-200 2.8 Yummie.

Oct 08, 07 - 06:32 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

Well if Apple keeps treating me so well...

{dreams}

No I want to go shoot. >_<

Oct 08, 07 - 06:35 pm Comment from: canon kinda guy

Yeah, me too! If you're interested, check out http://www.fredmiranda.com. Great site for photo assignments and such.....sorry in advance for getting off topic. Cheers. smile

Oct 08, 07 - 06:46 pm Comment from: neomonkey

bluefine, I've always used Canons over Nikons, having used both. Canon has developed a 65 MP (!) sensor, used for surveillance now. Even better stuff on the way. I'm waiting for their prices to come down, though. The item Chrissy One mentioned goes for $8000 for the body alone. Although I still shoot film with my Canon, I can see that pretty soon digital will replace film completely.

I wonder what Canon's stock price is...

Oct 08, 07 - 06:48 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

Anyone have experience with the 16-35mm f/2.8L II? I'm thinking about that one, too.

Because we're on topic and all...

Oct 08, 07 - 06:57 pm Comment from: Canon kinda guy

Nope. No experience with that, but check the site above for reviews. I have found them to be dead on. Very good photographers post there all the time. You're really into the wide angle stuff evidently! Landscape or city shooting? Im thinking about getting a macro, never used one but thought it could be fun.

Oct 08, 07 - 07:10 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

I shoot a lot of parties is close quarters, and I like landscapes, architecture and cars. Yeah, love wide angle. wink That's part of the reason I landed on Canon - they had the first full frame sensor, so my wide-angles stay wide-angles. Crop factors personally offend me.

Oct 08, 07 - 07:13 pm Comment from: GizmoDan

AAPL has gone up as much in the last 2 days . . .

. . . as Microsoft in the last year.

Take that!

Oct 08, 07 - 08:07 pm Comment from: Canon Kinda guy

D'oh....They offend me too, but I can't afford that mkIII yet. I was thinking about the 5D tho as well....Don't laugh, Im using an XT...WITH L series. Ummm, kinda bass ackwards, i know but you use what ya got. I figure the lenses are keepers, the body can be switched out anytime. Good for you C1. I personally cant stand the 1.6 crop...it's just weird.

Oct 08, 07 - 08:07 pm Comment from: bluefine

C1 et. al. ....

Since we're on topic.
Had the NIKON lenses and got a great deal from a friend on the Body.

But you're right... It's not the camera that makes the shot.

Thank god for digital cards... I'm hoping to work up to the day I can open my eyes and actually see before I shoooooooot. (hehe!)

Mostly I shoot the lighting and production setups for the special events I work on.

Oct 08, 07 - 08:42 pm Comment from: Phil

Canon users here too?
As I said before, I LOVE this site...

Oct 08, 07 - 08:52 pm Comment from: Chris

Checkout the Fedex home page. They have an iMac on it playing some tutorial of their services on the screen. Alomst like a picture ripped from Apples site.

Oct 08, 07 - 09:00 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

I'm using an XTi. And in my opinion, it's the screamin'est value in the whole market at the moment. I was going to buy a 5D, but it's real close to time to replace that one, and I imagine we'll be hearing about it at any moment, so I bought the XTi as a cheap date and to have as an excellent backup. I'm happy as hell with it.
And like you I've pimped it out a bit, with the battery grip and a 580EX II. So if a 5D MkII or a 4D appears, that's what I'd planned on for full frame.
But that 1Ds... {slobber} I dunno... a few more days like today and the AAPL faerie might make it happen.

WAY off topic.
