Monday, June 29, 2009 - 01:45 PM EST

"Apple CEO Steve Jobs is back on the job after a six-month medical leave, the company said Monday," John D. Sutter reports for CNN.

Sutter reports, "'Steve Jobs is back to work. He is at Apple a few days a week and working from home the other days,' Apple spokesman Steve Dowling said. 'We're glad to have him back.'"

Sutter reports, "Dowling would not comment further on specifics."

I know a certain angel that is responsible for a lot of good things in Steve Jobs life.

He was the one who got Steve out of his depressive funk and back to work last Monday.

May God bless his unnamed soul.

I hope that doesn't mean Tim Cook is on the auction block.

No, Apple needs to make a transition and it's fans need to come to accept the retirement of Steve Jobs.

We don't like to hear it, but it's the truth.

Unless Apple shakes off the Reality Distortion Field generated by Steve's personality and pursues a course on it's own, it will end up like Disney did shortly after Walt died.

Creative visionaries come along only once in awhile, it's up to the new captain to maintain the visionaries vision and course.

Apple could do a lot by listening to the needs of it's users, it's a lot bigger than just a niche consumer products company now.

I love it when these idiots say things like "Apple has done just fine without Steve Jobs." Well, duhhhhh??? Of course they're doing fine as long as the company is following the roadmap laid out by you-know-who!

Jun 29, 09 - 02:12 pm Comment from: Exasperated

Please, will all the FUD, lies and crap from the media end on this once and for all? Somebody, please stick 40 lbs. of C-4 plastique under Connie Guigliemlo's car...

Welcome back, Steve. I wish you and your family good health and peace. And I wish eternal hemorrhoids, boils and carbuncles to the frigtard media, pundits and analysts who cruelly exploited Steve's suffering to their gain.

Jun 29, 09 - 02:20 pm Comment from: Just Wondering

Just in time.

Old news: Snow Leopard, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3.0, MacBook Pro tinkering, Safari 4.0.

OK, so what's next?

Welcome back Steve! Don't let the jealous petty turkeys and weasels get you down. You are a major earth-changing blessing from God and have lots more work to do! And the iTablet is begging for mega-release.

Welcome back and godspeed Steve, and good to know C1 is still out there too....

Apple benefits enormously from Steve Jobs' leadership, may he remain CEO--not a figurehead "chairman"--for another 20 years!! While Tim Cook appears to be a great COO, that doesn't mean he would be a great CEO. Apple could not find another Steve Jobs--there just aren't any others around. But Apple definitely could find another great COO. Great COOs may not be easy to find, but they do exist and could be attracted to a top-performer like Apple. Until Apple MUST replace SJ at the helm, only a fool would that think they should.

Hiya C1...Glad to see you are back. Hope top see more of you..errr...umm...you know what I mean!

Any idea what happened to TowerTone? Sort of miss his wise (although somewhat conservative at times) and witty views on life.

...and MDN, will you create a %#$#@& way to edit posts. I am getting to be the king of &#%$& typos!

Jun 29, 09 - 03:08 pm Comment from: aka Christian

C1? You been lurkin' here and not commenting all this time, or just back for a random drop-in?

Just need TowerTone and Ampar back, and it'll be like old times. Not that other commenters here are slouches, mind you...

On topic: Apple has done extremely well sans Jobs, and I suspect he's only back to work up a full and official transition to his retirement.

Jun 29, 09 - 03:24 pm Comment from: Cascadians

Yeah I miss Ampar! Where the heck did he go?

Jun 29, 09 - 03:36 pm Comment from: ken1w

I think someone like Steve Jobs will suffer more from being "retired" than from continuing to be actively involved with Apple. He probably should not do any more "Stevenote" presentations, because he is a perfectionist and preparing for and rehearsing those things are probably physically stressful. His lieutenants have learned from the master and can do those presentations very competently these days.

However, there is no reason he cannot continue to be the "innovation" and "strategy" (and "inspirational") leader for Apple, indefinitely. Apple just needs to do what is necessary to keep Tim Cook on the team "indefinitely" too, as the leader who makes Steve's innovation and strategy a reality.

Return of the King. It really has to make you smile, as how many stories turn out this way. . . How many fud-nuts were saying he wouldn't be back.

Welcome back Mr. Jobs.

Jun 29, 09 - 06:10 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

I hear from Ampar and TowerTone and Jim TIV from time to time, but it's been a while. I've been occupied with other things (working on my house, mostly). Glad to hear Steve is back at the wheel... hope Apple gets back in the fast lane now.

Jun 29, 09 - 07:02 pm Comment from: auramac

The complete idiots, utter morons, vultures and snipers who insist that Jobs should retire are completely unqualified to run Apple, and no one over there- Jobs, Cook, or the board should listen to them. If Apple's stock is going to go down because Steve Jobs gets a cold or even worse rather than the products and service it is offering, then there is something wrong with this picture. Who is anyone to be telling Jobs to retire? Drop dead- if you have nothing to offer, why not retire yourself? Then again- there's always garbage to collect, push, pick up. Do yourselves a favor- get a job over at TMZ.
