Apple Store Sydney set to open on June 19 - report

"Apple has completed the construction of its big Sydney retail store, with the doors to open to the public in just over a fortnight," Mahesh Sharma reports for Australian IT.

"Located on the corner of George and King streets, the store would be handed over to Apple by the construction company at the end of the week, an on-site source confirmed," Sharma reports.

"Apple will spend the next couple of weeks cleaning out, fitting and stocking the space in preparation for the launch, which is understood to be on Thursday, June 19, which should roughly coincide with the advent of the 3G network capable iPhone," Sharma reports.

@winmacguy. Ditto. That's absolutely no reflection on the excellent service the existing Apple dealers, particularly Magnum Mac, are giving us here in Godzone. It's just that it would be great to also have a direct Apple presence.

With the Mac market expanding, the existing dealers shouldn't suffer too much. And there's room for them to move into the smaller centres where Apple wouldn't go.
