Apple to add Broadcom to iPhone supply chain?

"Apple is rumored to possibly be considering adding Broadcom to its iPhone supply chain, according to Taiwan OEMs who have seen Broadcom's baseband and RF chips on PCBs believed to be design-in samples of a new-revision or next generation iPhone," Cage Chao and Meiling Chen report for DIGITIMES.

"The adoption of Broadcom chips in any future iPhone models could mean the loss of orders for Apple's current chip supplier Infineon," Chao and Chen report. "The loss of orders from Apple could have a critical impact on Infineon which may even force the company out of the handset market, market watchers commented."

Yesterday The Register (a reputable UK tech publication) said it was Qualcomm. Today it's Broadcomm.

Which one is it, dammit? And more importantly, does anyone care?

Somebody is shorting Infineon and hoping to make a killing.

We will continue to see this type of reporting as long as the potential remains for inordinate profitablilty by artificially manipulateing stock prices.
