Plastic? FM radio?

Not sure about this...

don't really care about more megapixles, just better sensor in low light! dont like the sound of plastic though, i thought the rumor was magnesium.

I'd love an iPhone with NO camera, actually ANY decent phone, everything else. If I want to take pictures, I'll carry a real camera.

I'm very surprised that there isn't more negative reaction to the "rumors" circulating that the screen size will be reduced by 20%...not only will it suck for video and web surfing, but presumably for typing as well...unless they add a real keyboard...hmmm

They are not going to shrink the iPhone display, at least not across all models. There might be an iPhone Air version that is slimmed down, but why degrade the user experience across the board for web surfing and other display hungry activities that make the iPhone stand out relative to its wannabe peers?

Why not have a radio?
I'm sure Apple has received a LOT of requests to add this feature and it makes sense. On many occasions Steve Jobs has said he wouldn't do one thing yet he goes ahead and adds features according to the demand.

The new iPhones (2 of them) will be a step down and up from the current iPhone. So, basically, there will be three models: An iPhone Nano, iPhone, and iPhone Pro, just like we had an iPod, iPod Nano, and Shuffle. The Pro will have 3G, two cameras, and real GPS, the current iPhone will add new applications, better battery life, and a non-recessed headphone jack. The Nano will be made of durable plastic, come in black and other colors.

The Nano will start at $149, iPhone at $249, Pro at $349 and each will come in two capacities.

Launch date: End of July

FM radio is massively popular in the UK, the two breakfast dj's on BBC Radio 1 & 2 get about 15m a day between them, when you consider the population that's a lot. Add in radio 3, 4, 5 and all the popular commercial/local stations and there is a big audience. Just because US radio is crap doesn't mean everywhere else's is too. Of course the US is currently the main market but still.

I recently saw a news item that some courthouses in New York City are now allowing cell phones with cameras - anymore phones without cameras are rare. People are just told not to use the cameras, and warned of the penalties if they do.

At the same time, they are removing the pay phones!

Here is what I see:

Revised iPhone - 3G/GSM Better camera with video support (a flash would be nice... but I doubt it) a camera that faces the screen makes sense for video ichat support, but not sure - US market / Europe - Will look very similar to current iPhone, size and weight about the same (don't want to alienate all the accessory companies), same battery, same screen size, WiFi 802.11n support (maybe), revised speakers (ear and bottom) for better/louder sound, 8gb or 16gb only for now, 32gb to come later in the year.

iPhone CDMA/3G - Japan needs it similar to above.

iPhone Jr - 2.5G/GSM - Perhaps a smaller format, same 2mp camera, no video, plastic body, 4gb or 8gb only.

You're talking about the Chris Moyles breakfast show on Radio 1 and that's not an example of good radio. The guy comes out with even more shit than Ampar. Moyles' popularity is not a sign of good programming, only an indicator of just how much the UK is really dumbing down.

The problem with zoom on any camera phone is that it's always digital. And digital zoom is always bad. Why? Because all it's doing, is stretching the picture. Basically, it's cropping the photo and downgrading the resolution.

Now, if you can figure out how to put an optical zoom on a camera phone, that'd be pretty freakin sweet, to quote Peter Griffin. I've heard there are lens companies who are working on a way to do just that, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it for the next iPhone.

2,8" screen. iPhone nano, they would never make the screen smaller on a device that will have 3G. It would be like twice tha HP and 1 gear less without changing the ratios.

But am I gonna get my 5-6" tablet? Propably not, but I want it so bad that I've thought about buying an eMate. ???

Unbelievable the hatin' on FM that goes on here. How can anyone hate FM radio? If you live in Idaho, sure, maybe you've go no good radio. Here in Los Angeles, there are at least half a dozen stations I listen to on a weekly basis and two or three every day.

I'm as big an Apple nut as any a y'all, and I understand Apple's business reasons for not including radio tuners in iPod and iPhone, but I don't understand all this hatin' from fans. It's not like a radio feature would add more than a buck or two, or .1 gram to the device. Just 'cause YOU don't take advantage of the great news and music programming on America's thriving public (and even some commercial) radio stations, doesn't mean nobody else wants to!
