YAY! I need a new web server (the current mini is a Power PC).

Oct 19, 09 - 05:17 pm Comment from: Snow Leopard

I would like to see a mini that has AppleTV functionality built in for realz.

Apple is going to piss on microsofts chips tomorrow. Big update, promise.

Oct 19, 09 - 05:31 pm Comment from: cw

Blu-ray? Maybe I buy if there's blu-ray-----otherwise no.

Oct 19, 09 - 05:33 pm Comment from: Bizlaw

Well, tomorrow is the big grand opening of Microsoft's first retail store in Scottsdale, AZ. What a perfect time to introduce new iMacs and Mac minis!

The only problem with the theory is that Apple likes to introduce new products on Tuesdays.

Oct 19, 09 - 05:36 pm Comment from: CandTsmac

@ Bizlaw

Where I live tomorrow is Tuesday.

Oct 19, 09 - 05:39 pm Comment from: Mac-nugget

I bet Apple does just that.

Oct 19, 09 - 05:39 pm Comment from: TheConfuzed1

More importantly, where <I>Apple<> lives, tomorrow is Tuesday. wink

Oct 19, 09 - 05:43 pm Comment from: DWJ

The Mayan calendar says tomorrow we all die.

Oct 19, 09 - 05:47 pm Comment from: Mac Whisperer

I believe Apple would have scheduled media in advance for any type of major hardware revisions.

I do not think they will be pissing on MicroSofts so called parade

Oct 19, 09 - 05:47 pm Comment from: spyinthesky

Where the hell does Bizlaw live? And when during the wek does Tuesday fall there?

Oct 19, 09 - 05:50 pm Comment from: DWJ

Bizlaw lives in the future.

Five bucks says that all new Macs include Win7 preinstalled, to upstage Microsoft's launch on Thursday, and obviate any need or desire to buy a new Dull Computer.

Oct 19, 09 - 05:52 pm Comment from: jjjj

I thought it was going to be last week, but I will reset to this week, by Thursday, between the earnings call and the latest version of Windows FAIL, erm I mean Windows 7.

Oct 19, 09 - 05:53 pm Comment from: Radius

Still waiting for the G5 laptop! Maybe a dual quad-core iMac headless tower? Oooooh...

Oct 19, 09 - 05:54 pm Comment from: Hotinplaya

I live in the Mayan yucatan, and tomorrow here is Tuseday, unless it rains

Oct 19, 09 - 05:56 pm Comment from: Radius

In other news, Microsoft unleashes Windows Sven. It only speaks Norwegian and pillages your computer. (Insert Viking joke here).

Oct 19, 09 - 05:57 pm Comment from: Hotinplaya

Problem is, when ever Apple intros new Macs, with better price
points, it will be spun they dropped the price because of windows 7

Oct 19, 09 - 06:13 pm Comment from: G4Dualie

@hot

who cares. I don't see a problem. How ever they want to characterize the release, Apple is on a roll and microsoft will do anything to hang on to Apples coat tails.

I will be buying a new iMac this week. I just hope I've had time to play with it some before heading over to m$'s grand opening. Naturally, I'll be bragging about the screen and quad-core mobo.

Ah. These iMac & Mac mini refreshes are still "imminent", are they? wink

Dylan sings one for windows 7:

Clouds so swift
Rain won't lift
Gate won't close
Railings froze
Get your mind off wintertime
You ain't goin' nowhere
Whoo-ee! Ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, oh, are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair!

I don't care
How many letters they sent
Morning came and morning went
Pick up your money
And pack up your tent
You ain't goin' nowhere
Whoo-ee! Ride me high
Tomorrow's the day
My bride's gonna come
Oh, oh, are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair!

I doubt these new "coming any day now for the last month" models, whenever they are actually released, will be too different from the current models. Probably just a speed (and maybe storage size) bump.

The next significantly different new models, at least for the iMac, will likely happen about March or April 2010.

And with a speed increase as appropriate, there is nothing wrong with the current Mac mini, especially with the dual video output ports (I hope that feature stays); it serves its purpose very well.

BRING IT!!!

"Subterranean Home Sick Blues" is one of the best.

Brian said that Mac users will inherit the earth. Maybe tomorrow is the day of judgement.

Oct 19, 09 - 07:39 pm Comment from: nevermind

MacBooks first of all, redesigned and at a lower start price.
And maybe minis.

Oct 19, 09 - 08:57 pm Comment from: IONLYUSEOSX

Look for something big from Apple this week. They has 3 more days to upstage Microsoft. New cheaper Macs to attract more people to the Applestores may be in the cards.

Oct 19, 09 - 10:23 pm Comment from: Sixvodkas

Bizlaw may never live this thread down

grin

BTW, stealing a bit of MS's thunder is about due.

"Where I live tomorrow is Tuesday"

I live in the future. Tuesday was last week.

Oct 19, 09 - 11:25 pm Comment from: El Guapo

FYI, I think Bizlaw was being sarcastic. Geesh. Loosen up guys.

Oct 20, 09 - 06:14 am Comment from: Grrrilla

Nope. Not expecting new stuff. Processor bump (still dual core) at most. If it was a redesign, iI would expect it to have a separate event.

Apple's not going to try to upstage MS this week. They won't wallow in that mud ring. Next week, maybe the one after, but only with a pre-announcement if it is anything substantially different than current models. And if it doesn't happen next week, it won't happen before Christmas.

And two references in a database? If it were new iMacs and minis, there would be several models of each, so should be 4-8 references, not two. Shenanigans.

And for those still longing for the elusive headless iMac or (preferably) miniTower, I am 99.95% certain it won't happen unless it is at a pre-announced event (with teaser marketing).

So aside from the stock jump, expect a quiet news day from Apple.

The whole world does not operate on American time wink Here in China, tomorrow IS Tuesday because we are in the +8 tome zone and on the other side of the international date line :-p

I don't know why some still whine about blue ray. This is a yesterday tech. who needs all those discs taking space at home when one can use flash memory?
