Color me pessimistic, but they may just be announcing the "roadmap." It doesn't mean that they'll actually be handing out the SDK that day. Steve gets up on stage and talks about the SDK and then says, "...and it'll be available in June."

Anyway, I'm just patiently waiting for it. Hope they give me access to bluetooth...

I am surely looking forward to Zune Tang™ to grace us with his usual odoriferous musings on the topic at hand.

The quaking iPhone wannabe makes just got another free week to work on their crappy products. Doesn't matter really, they will all scramble to Windows Mobile since catch up time is now impossible and Microsoft is more than happy to give them Windows Mobile to power their devices. Once again, Apple is late. Is anyone keeping track of how many times this has happened? Or do you just assume at this point that being late is part of their business plan.

Unfortunately, it sounds like this is a discussion of the SDK roadmap and possibly the introduction of some new features (or maybe just plans for new features).

I think Apple's stock is about to get hammered because the iPhone SDK isn't going to be ready. I hope I'm wrong.

Peter does have a point. Maybe it's just the skeptic in me but the press release could be read that Apple will be holding a talk about it's roadmap, the SDK, and "exciting new enterprise features." - which will be released within x number of months.

I hope that I am wrong and Apple RELEASES the SDK and other features as soon as the event ends (if they haven't already done so as some posters have already suggested). Looking forward to March 6th.

It is precisely this "black and white" thinking that the market uses to calculate value. On time = good. Late = Bad. Welcome to the real world.

PS - Has everyone forgotten about Time Capsule, including Apple?? It's still in the "Staff Picks" section of the Apple Store.com. Great, it's a staff pick but no consumer can pick it? Come on!

Of course I agree with you that the release is late. Where I disagree is your draconian analysis of the impact of being late. Your example of "being a little bit pregnant" shows the limitations of your thinking. If you think that being six days late is the same as being pregnant.... Well, enough said.

What if the baby is late? Or you're late with the baby? Or you have a baby who grows up to be always late?

Could you imagine how bad it would suck, waiting 5 years for the SDK, only to find out you needed zPhone 2.0 and that the whole thing was utter crap?

I wonder if the 1.1.4 update was for a reason other than bug fixes. Do we all have the new software that will be turned on on March 1st.
