Apple CEO Jobs did not attend Disney annual meeting (UPDATED)
Tuesday, March 10, 2009 - 03:33 PM EDT

Apple CEO Steve Jobs made his first public appearance since taking medical leave from Apple as he attended Disney's annual meeting today.

Jobs is Disney's largest individual shareholder.

Sam Diaz reports for ZDNet, "It seems he appeared to be re-elected to its board. Jobs was renominated to Disney’s board back in January, despite the medical problems that have forced him to hand over the reins at Apple. The board re-elected him–along with the company’s other directors–at this morning’s meeting and there were no objections to Disney’s slate."

Diaz reports, "The meeting had an audio only webcast so it’s unclear about how Jobs looked. After all, that’s what everyone wants to know, right?"

Hope Minnie gave him a hug.

I thought maybe we'd see the camera go to him in the audience when Woz performed on Dancing with the Stars last night.

I heard that Bill Gates kids aren't allowed to go to Disneyland.....

Mar 10, 09 - 02:16 pm Comment from: Big Al

See, he is still alive.

I knew it.

Mar 10, 09 - 02:21 pm Comment from: iStepchild

Funny that Steve is going to die of something different each day, yet the Woz looks like a cholesterol attack may occur at any given moment. If he slips and falls on the dance floor, he will just roll. Steve visits the yogurt shop while Woz visits the buffet trough.
In this country, its OK to weigh 225lbs on a 165 lb frame. That's why weight loss is the number one marketing moneymaker out there, especially lately. I am sick of the weight loss ads. Most people go grab the corn chip bag when they come on.
Rachel Ray was a babe, but porked out bigtime sampling all her cooking.

The article seems to be false.

Listening to the live webcast, I just heard a question regarding Steve's absence.

Now they are saying he was not there. Is, is not, was, was not, has there ever been so much ridiculous idle speculation about 1 man? This is turning into Phantom of the Soap Opera ...

I just thank God for Steve and enjoy my Mac and iPod and all things Apple related.

Such a shame that irresponsible news sites will reprint these kinds of rumors without confirmation from a reliable source!

...oh, wait...

(Just kidding MDN, you know we love riding the rumor mill rollercoaster.) wink

Ok, reckon all the "lined-out" text up above proves one thing

Either ZDNet or CNBC is fulla shit

My money's on both of them

Three thoughts:

1. The media are frigtards, and are aligned with short-sellers
2. Steve Jobs never promised to be at the Disney annual meeting. In fact, statements corroborate that Steve would not make any public appearance until mid- to late-June AT THE EARLIEST.
3. Per another story on MDN today, this is a good reason why I believe we need to reinstate the Uptick Rule.

The idiots from ZDNet make my head hurt. They have been Apple haters for as long as I can remember. So much for objective journalism.

There's nothing to see here, folks. Move along.

INCREDIBLE! there are people who really do not know what leave disease means!
Damnit! LEAVE IS LEAVE!
Can you hear that!
How many times has one to repeat it?
Steve IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE wherever there is ANYTHING going on and having the slightest to do with WORK!!!!!

'I heard that Bill Gates kids aren't allowed to go to Disneyland.....'

TT...there is no NEED for them to go, because their dad is Goofy.

".....TT...there is no NEED for them to go, because their dad is Goofy....."

does that mean Melinda is *effin' Goofy ?

Mar 10, 09 - 05:51 pm Comment from: WriterGuy

@ BC Kelley

I agree with your sentiments about ZNET and CNBC, but both of them are innocent. The false report was on Marketwatch, a division of CBS. Unclear if it was an honest mistake or they were deliberately fed misinformation.

But this is what happens when you replace actual journalism for blogs and Internet rumors...

I forgot, which one wears the Steve Jobs mask in bed?
I bet they have two.....

I heard they have a secret steamer trunk under the bed, which contains several masks --- Jonnie Ive -- Shiller -- and even our own lovable "Woz" LOL

Mar 10, 09 - 07:46 pm Comment from: TowerTone

"which contains several masks"
AND and iPhone....

Mar 10, 09 - 09:33 pm Comment from: Tommyr

I HOPE Steve is healthier than we think but I can't help thinking it's not going well for him.

I hope that I am dead wrong. Seriously.

This whole thing doesn't sound good to me.....

Mar 11, 09 - 01:21 am Comment from: @TT

".....AND and iPhone...."

S-hhhh ! -- dont let the cat out of the bag --

The iPhone (and the iPod Touch) belong to Melinda !

(she keeps them tucked under the fuzzy handcuffs !)

Mar 11, 09 - 11:12 am Comment from: @almux

"Steve IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE wherever there is ANYTHING going on and having the slightest to do with WORK!!!!!"

True as that may be for a burger flipper at McDonalds, for such a driven and anal retentive control freak as Steve not to be able to show up on just one day does tell something about his health.

You as an under performer in life may have stronger boundaries between your work and personal lives than most high performing people do. Don't judge the expectations on their behavior by your own low standards.

"Rachel Ray is still a babe."

To chubby chasers.
