Apple’s massive Mac OS X 10.6.3 release imminent?
Monday, February 22, 2010 - 12:50 PM EDT

onSale - Your Computer & Electronics SuperstoreSeed notes for the next version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard have finally emerged, and they seemingly confirm there’s few if any major steps required before Apple ships the new update to Mac users, perhaps within days," Jonny Evans reports for Distorted-Loop. "Mac OS X 10.6.3 (10D558) is a 710.5MB."

Evans reports, "Mac OS X 10.6.3 (10D558) is a 710.5MB. World of Apple informs: 'Apple [...] has released the next build of Mac OS X 10.6.3 to registered developers. The latest build [...] has been delivered in close proximity to the last build and the attached notes remain unchanged. Sources continue to insist to World of Apple that a release is imminent.'"

Evans reports, "However, this release has been reported as imminent for weeks now, so don’t wait for lunch."

If it fixes the bug where the dock won't go back down after hovering over it, I'll be happy. A very small problem, but a bit irritating nonetheless.

I reported to Apple a problem, shortly after release of Snow Leopard, with the address list IN the Mail program (not the Address Book, but the address list in Mail). Each time an e-mail is sent, addresses are shuffled for individuals with multiple address listed: they do NOT stay in order. This never happened with 10.4 and 10.5.

I was informed by Apple, following their research, that this was a problem experienced by EVERYONE in 10.6. Apparently, Apple is not fixing this problem in 10.6.3.

So, when WILL they fix it?

Feb 22, 10 - 02:08 pm Comment from: Gabriel

"Imminent" - they keep using that word. I do not think it means what they think it means.

If it fixes the bug that forces Google to search for porn sites I'll be impressed.

"Imminent" sounds "ominous". Ruh roh.

Well, here it comes . . .

"10.6.3 killed my Mac! It was working just fine before this update, and now it's DEAD, DEAD, DEAD! Apple owes me a new computer! Oh, and my dog JUST ran away. And my wife left me this morning. And the roof needs repair now. And my hemorrhoids are back. And the Winter Olympics suck. And . . . and . . . and . . . ."

Oh, did I say that Apple owes me a new computer? Good. They DO, ya' know.

UtherP: Shut up, you sound like an Obama voter.

Feb 22, 10 - 02:46 pm Comment from: Cubert

macTard,
That sounds to me like a feature and not a bug.

Feb 22, 10 - 02:48 pm Comment from: Gabriel

@ st1 - erm, Uther P. was being satirical there.

Feb 22, 10 - 02:50 pm Comment from: Cubert

st1,
And it sounds like you need a sense of humor.

Here's a buck - now go buy a clue.

Feb 22, 10 - 02:59 pm Comment from: @st1

From Uther P.

What the fsck is wrong with you? Not only do you not have the intelligence to understand the point I was trying to make, you just HAD to bring politics into the topic, didn't you? Are you really that puerile and narrowly focused that you must bring your social hatred into EVERY discussion, no matter how lightly intended?

Damn, st1. Permit me to suggest that you run--not walk--to your nearest psychotherapist for some immediate intervention. Oh, and do stay away from sharp things and electrical outlets in the meantime. You are probably not prepared for their unintended "side effects."

Feb 22, 10 - 03:25 pm Comment from: Lava_Head_UK

There goes that 5GB of drive space which became available when Snow Leopard was installed :-(

Feb 22, 10 - 03:32 pm Comment from: Viking

@Lava_Head_UK

Many MB's are simply replacing other MB. I haven't noticed the OS growing much with any 10.5 or 10.6 updates.
