3hours - Plenty of time to justify Leopard's Jan '08 release date.

Woo hoo! Leopard news!

Apr 17, 07 - 08:11 am Comment from: M.X.N.T.4.1

Well they said they'd be showing a feature complete version so 3 hours seems about right.

Apr 17, 07 - 08:17 am Comment from: ballonknot

Hopefully we'll be able to get it via iTunes just like the 'iPhoneWorld' one.

Apr 17, 07 - 08:18 am Comment from: Bartsimpsonhead

Three hours along the theme of 'Coding Headstarts' ?!?

I hope Apples SkunkWorks have been working overtime down in that basement: maybe Leopards killer 'secret feature' is the ability to run Windows applications without needing a copy of M$ Windowzzzz....

Already running on Intel processors, can it be that much of a jump to write code similar enough to M$s to get PC apps to run on Macs?

I hope so.

Get ready to 'duck and cover' over at Redmond...

More effing iPhone hype & Bullshine.
For all of the hype, it's still just a very damned expensive cell phone.

Apr 17, 07 - 08:31 am Comment from: Steve Jobs

I've been taking dancing lessons from Ballmer's teacher! We'll see if I can match him come WWDC.

Steve Jobs rents his clothes, throws ashes on his head, prostrates himself, and repeatedly and tearfully pleads forgiveness two and one-half hours for unnecessarily raising consumer expectations and exaggerating Apple’s capacity to deliver products on time. Jobs sobs that "not being just a computer company is a lot harder than I imagined". Following Job’s rambling rendering of regrets was his assurance that Apple would release a quad-core notebook with 1TB solid-state drive and a 300GB wireless touchscreen iPod by Christmas.

and yet another thing...

yes, i have a few more things...

I have a funny feeling that the day of the keynote there will be a run on office chairs in Redmond.

Apr 17, 07 - 09:06 am Comment from: RevNeal

It may be that they'll His Steveness will have: (1) Lots of software to introduce, (2) the final version of the iPhone to wave around and present, (3) a new generation of the iPod to crow over, (4) the success of the online music/video store to report on, (5) iTV and other advanced features to sing the praises of, and (6) major bumps in several Mac Lines to announce. That could take a while.

Hardware alone is screaming for some refreshes. The MacMinis are in desperate need of a bump-up (Apple had better quit waiting for me to buy a MacMini before they refresh the Line, because I'm not buying until they do), a form-factor upgrade is probably due on the Mac Pro as well as at least announcements on processor upgrades across the board, and a touch-screen interface for the MacBook Pro Line would make a lot of sense. A wider screen iPod may still be on the way, too ... though more attention is being dumped into iPhone (obviously).

MDN Magic Word: "Stage" ... as in "the stage is being set for momentous announcements.

I hope there is a good way to watch the keynote before seeing any spoilers.

I like to watch it as it happens and not read about it first.

I end up trying to get to the Quicktime stream on Apple's site without seeing the lower 2/3 of the monitor because whatever's new will be on Apple's page.

I think I'll go bookmark the QT page and hope for the best.

With the iPhone, the stream was on a page with a big picture of the phone. Argh!

OS X
iPhone
maybe iLife or iWorks but I could see those tied to the Leopard launch
a few bits of new hardware, maybe SantaRosa MBP?

Apr 17, 07 - 10:10 am Comment from: jarrettnewsdaily

All the time I have spent on this website and still very few people see things clearly. Apple always has statements about their business that are extremely conservative. They always guide low, and report very high. So of course their timeline for Leopard would be a four month delay when only a few weeks was needed. There is a three hour keynote for a reason folks......Leopard. The iphone will take some time, and some new hardware/software.....but the big cat is what will be the focus of WWDC. With a July, August at the latest release......we cant have the kiddies going back to school without the new MacBooks (pros too) sporting that cute kitty ( insert cat line here, shaved or not)

Please start putting the puzzle peices together folks......Apple is bringing us into 3-D everywhere with Leopard, so please quit straining your brains with your 2-D thinking.

Thank you.

Apr 17, 07 - 11:21 am Comment from: ac

it better not be three hours of iPhone. Touch screens! Leopard hidden features! New MacBook/ MacBook Pros with touch screens! And new iPods, with touch screen and iPhone OS!

Apr 17, 07 - 11:53 am Comment from: OzzysCross101

typhoon,

On Keynote's Eve I like to set my homepage to the QuickTime site (normally it's Apple's Startpage), but then there's that wait for them to put it up there, so I try and find something to keep me away from my machine until later that night when their server isn't overloaded and to keep me away from going onto Mac news sites raspberry

Apr 17, 07 - 11:58 am Comment from: OzzysCross101

Everything Apple's needed to say about iPhone has more or less been said. The most there will be to talk about it will be the release and the carriers for Europe (or the UK, I forget who Apple hasn't settled on).

The rest of the keynote will be all about Leopard, iLife, and iWork. Possibly some hardware updates, but this is a developer event folks; devs wanna see the new software they've only seen buggy betas of in its almost-finished form.

June 11th is going to be amazing. I can feel it.

Apr 17, 07 - 12:24 pm Comment from: One guy

MBP will come out in May, ahead of WWDC. Intel estimates that 30% of laptops sold in Q2 (until end of June) will be Santa Rosa based. The percentage will go up to over 50% in Q3 and 90% in Q4. Now, Intel will release SR on May 8, but the manufacturers will have the chip earlier. On May 8 everyone who has ordered SR early enough can release their products. There are already SR notebooks being tested in Cupertino.

Apple also seems to have a special deal with Intel. The release of 8 core Mac Pro with the 3Ghz chip, the first of this kind, tells a lot.

On May 8 (Tuesday) Apple will release the new SR MBP. June will see MB updated.

Now the question remains whether Apple will update screens in their MB line to higher resolution to make them Leopard friendly. Apple has just confirmed that Leopard will introduce resolution independence and higher dpi screens would be sweet. Maybe until Leopard they would be set to opeate in different than maximum/native resolution.

WWDC 2007 page says;
Keynote: 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Apr 17, 07 - 02:10 pm Comment from: GranitW

Well I went to the site and there is a 9:00 - 12:00 block in the callender, but in side this it says word for word "Keynote: 10:00 am - 11:30 am"

Apr 17, 07 - 03:50 pm Comment from: d

typhoon - I try to stay away from all Mac news/rumor/fan sites for a week prior to keynotes.

Yes, it is possible.

Apr 17, 07 - 10:19 pm Comment from: TheConfuzed1

Let's see here...

Apple TV announced/shipping.

iPhone announced.

Eight core Macs just announced.

Final Cut Studio 2 announced.

Wow, they must have a lot of great stuff coming for WWDC if they have already told us about this stuff, and they are still booking three hours!

MW: Distance. Apple is placing themselves at a level of quality that is a much farther distance from M$ than what they already are.
