AT&T debuts free ‘myWireless Mobile’ iPhone app on Apple App Store
Wednesday, May 06, 2009 - 08:35 AM EST

AT&T today announced the availability of its AT&T myWireless Mobile application on the Apple App Store. AT&T developed the application to allow iPhone customers to manage family and individual accounts directly from their iPhone anytime, anywhere.

Supplementing AT&T myWireless, a popular service through www.att.com used today by millions of AT&T customers, the Mobile edition for iPhone brings greater ease and simplicity to virtually all elements of account management. The app's primary functions include:

• Bill and Pay – View monthly bill in full and make one-touch payments
• Voice and Data Usage – View all voice and data usage, including text messages
• Features – Browse and manage bolt-on features, including new texting plans and more

"Our goal is to make the AT&T experience seamless and easy, and as much about the customer as possible," said David Huntley, senior vice president, eCommerce & Sales Centers, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, in the press release. "Our new AT&T myWireless Mobile app gives iPhone customers more freedom to manage, customize and update their wireless voice and data needs whenever and wherever. Customers can view minutes, add new features, update payment information and download their entire bill with added ease plus peace-of-mind with anytime, anywhere access."

Among other capabilities, AT&T myWireless Mobile will allow password-authenticated iPhone customers to actively view all account billing details, including:

• Last payment amount and date
• Current balance and due date
• Full bill in PDF format

Customers can also manage a range of payment needs using AT&T myWireless Mobile, including making full or partial payments, and selecting payment methods and preferences such as previously used checking accounts and credit cards. Customers can also set up new payment preferences, directly from their device, through the application.

For parents managing several AT&T accounts within a family plan, myWireless Mobile provides easy access to both voice and data usage across accounts. For example, parents can view voice minutes as part of Anytime, Night & Weekend, Mobile to Mobile and Rollover usage; plus, view current data usage and text messages, including both sent and received texts. Account information is available for both family and individual accounts.

AT&T myWireless Mobile also offers convenient access to several AT&T features such as AT&T Smart Limits for Wireless, and texting and data plans. Through the app, iPhone customers can explore and learn more about available features, plus easily add or remove features to and from their current account.

Once AT&T myWireless has been downloaded on iPhone, to access account information, customers must already have an existing myWireless service established via http://www.att.com. The same username and password will provide account access on iPhone.

The AT&T MyWireless Mobile app is available for free from Apple's App Store here.

Anything to pry you from your money a little more quickly.

I tried it... It's okay for the price but for $.99 I like Cell Tracker a better. That's just me though.

I would have liked it to have included the ability to connect with one tap to AT$T's wireless waypoints, but I guess that's asking too much smile

As a father and user of AT&T;family plan, I wish I could see a log my kids text messages.

Sometimes I worry about who they are text with.

May 06, 09 - 08:42 am Comment from: whatever4real

@deepdish

it's called trust. Anything less than trust means you are turning into a stalker. Just because they are your kids doesn't mean you aren't stalking them. If you feel you need to look at their text messages then you shouldn't buy your kids a phone. Let them get a phone when they turn 18. Then it's not your problem, they have to grow up sometime. I know you are concerned but all you can do is teach them your morals and hope they stick.

it's not stalking. and it is not about "trust". It's protection from sophisticated predators while allowing the kids to participate in modern technology.

Anyone who doesn't see that either has no kids, or is a suspect. period.

May 06, 09 - 09:08 am Comment from: Roy

@whatever:

You obviously don't have kids. Stalking? Puhleez. Kids don't have "rights" when it comes to parenting. It's just like being in the Army, they have no personal property and are not entitled to privacy. Smart parents know this.

@deepdish:

All sms messages and phone calls are logged and can be viewed on your AT&T;bill.

May 06, 09 - 09:08 am Comment from: mks1

@deepdish ...just talk too them about the danger of texting people they don't know. Ask them too tell you if anyone ever tries too start a conversation they don't know. My daughter now 21 started texting at about 12 or 13 and we built a trust with each other that I would never check her texts or email, but too tell me if anyone she didn't know contacted her. We never had any problems, but even today she still trust me with information not meant for anyone else but her and I. Kids are smarter than you think...give them some credit and trust in the hopes they return the favor.

@ whatever4real Are you kidding me.. do you really think that is what responsible parenting is all about? I suspect you were being silly.. i hope so anyway

May 06, 09 - 10:11 am Comment from: whatever4real

no I was serious. My parents built trust and trust kept me away from drugs and out of jail. I am married and we are planning kids, but I didn't have sex until I was 19, I dont do drugs and my parents still trust me. TRUST

May 06, 09 - 10:56 am Comment from: @whatever4real

"Trust, but verify."

This is good advice for you when you move from the "planning" stage to the "actual parenting" stage.

May 06, 09 - 11:28 am Comment from: The Other Steve

The trust thing aside, (balancing trust, respect, and responsibility, is a tricky thing)

The app sounds like it will be cool, I'm downloading it now.
Remember, this is version 1!
If you have a wish list, let AT&T;know. We all want a better product, tell them how to do it.

Downloaded it and paid my bill. It connected quickly to all my online data at the ATT Wireless website. Actually worked quicker than the website itself.

Not bad. Love the screenshots on the App store. The bill pay shows the persons account as last paying $10 and currently owing $7.12. What plan are they using!

May 06, 09 - 02:57 pm Comment from: Luke D.

deepdish,

As a Retail Sales Consultant for AT&T;Mobility, I recommend you add the following features to your Family Plan in order to better protect your children:

1. FamilyMap
2. Smart Limits for Wireless
3. Parental Controls

You really should stop by your local AT&T;store and ask for a demo. I use these features myself, deepdish, and I have to tell you, they are pretty amazing. No other carrier offers anything else even close to this level of functionality... As a psychology major, however, I warn you not to be an authoritarian parent... you will seriously screw up your kids lives...

Why do they need an app? I pay mine through the settings icon on the home page.
Pay My Bill
Directory Assistance
Pay My Bill
View My Minutes
Voice Connect
Are all options from Settings>Phone>AT&T;Services Menus

May 07, 09 - 01:43 am Comment from: SKY LARK

Why are they charging for the App in the first place?

May 08, 09 - 07:50 am Comment from: Tomball

I have both the AT&T;app and Cell Tracker. With the AT&T;app I have to enter my password each time. Cell Tracker remembers it. I also prefer the interface on Cell Tracker. Winner Cell Tracker.
