Everybody in the computer business talks about selling more to women. Too often, if means making a pink copy of the same crap you already make.

Apple is doing it. Investigate Avon a little more. They are selling to women worldwide, regardless of nationality or income level. She should have a lot to offer Apple, even more than Gore.

Selling more to women? Girls don't know how to use computers. You should hear the dumb questions the women at the office come up with. The IT guys just roll their eyes. I have news for you MAC sheep. UNIX is difficult to understand and that's what Apple uses so Apple would have to scrap all that UNIX stuff and license Windows if they want to sell to women. Windows has fonts, icons and a beautiful windowing environment in a desktop metaphor. Apple doesn't—and never did—have a clue.

Smart woman, and smart move on Apple's part to bring her on board. Her connection with GE is all the more to like, but it's her amazing corporate experience and Chinese background that really bring something to the table. This is a self made woman that broke all stereotypical barriers. I respect that and look forward to hearing more about her. Welcome Andrea.

Actually happened to me and the Mrs. in the late 80's.

1) She sits on the board of GE.

2) GE owns NBC/Universal.

This is the reason why she is with Apple now. It's all about the content, and she is going to help bring it (NBC/Universal content) back to Apple, perhaps as an unofficial mediator of sorts. Anyone who claims that Apple had other motivations for this move is a naive fool.
