“Apple Inc., seeking to win a larger share of the market for handheld computers, is planning to unveil a tablet computer this month, according to a person familiar with the matter,” Connie Guglielmo reports for Bloomberg.
“The mobile device is scheduled to go on sale in March, said the person, who declined to be identified because details of the product are private,” Guglielmo reports.
“‘We are not going to comment on rumors and speculation,’ said Steve Dowling, a spokesman for Cupertino, California-based Apple,” Guglielmo reports.

MacDailyNews Note: This report – late January tablet unveiling with a March availability date – backs up a recent report from The Wall Street Journal.
How about an idoctor? all these tablet rumors have made me ill!
I don’t know. I’ll believe all this tablet stuff when I see it.

Yeah, cynicism rules! Get on a low horse and ride! Poo-poo the news! Reject all prophecy! Down with seers! Damn the torpedos, full snide ahead!
Isn’t this like the 3rd of 4th time in the past couple years that Apple was reported to be on the verge of releasing this unannounced tablet? I’m going to laugh my ass off if it doesn’t happen… again.
If it does happen though, I’ll probably be in line with my wallet open.
No shit, Connie. Welcome to the party.
I heard a rumor that there was a very solid rumor about a rumored Apple product that was totally real and for sure and the rumor is that it is rumored to ship in March, give or take a rumor.
See…. right from the horses mouth…. er strike that….. other end.

Just a thought,
en
I heard rob schnieder goes to home depot and hires migrant workers to come to his house and choke him in the shower.
I’m planning on selling more of my AAPL stock – nothing to do with the stock so much as my need for cash to become a more active trader – and I don’t know what this would do to the price. It has been usual for most companies – other than Apple – to see their price rise when they introduce a sweet new product. Apple has typically done just the opposite! Stock price rises ahead of MWSF then crashes on the news of an exciting new iMac (or MacBook, or iPod, or …). This royally SUX ! ! ! But it didn’t matter while I was in it for the long haul. Now I want out with a generous profit. Oh. Wait. It could drop 10% and my profit would STILL be generous. Hmmm.
Hey Raidin I’m sure there’s a Home Depot where you live. You’ll have to get there early, I would imagine, if you’re looking for a beefy one with big hands.
Wow! This is incredible news! I am so shocked! These guys are INCREDIBLE journalists!
@DL
Oh. Wait. It could drop 10% and my profit would STILL be generous. Hmmm.
What’re you doing, thinking outloud? Perhaps you’re in the wrong thread? Or are you just bragging?
Sell! Reap the profits and share it. Just make sure you receive something of equal, or better value.
Otherwise, keep it all to yourself.

Wow, a Connie Guglielmo article and she didn’t mention anything about Steve’s health? Will wonders never cease.
“Apple to unveil tablet later this month, ship in March”
I knew about the tablet, but a ship?
Will they call it “The iiMinnow”?
To take to the iIsland?
But wait a minute…this is Apple
For the family, they will offer the iJupiter3,
and business class can take the iEnterprise…..
If I say, without authority, that the tablet will be unveiled later this month and shipped in March, will I get quoted all across the internet? It seems to be the way to get 15 minutes of fame.
WSJ’s “say people briefed by the company.” as well as Bloomberg’s “according to a person familiar with the matter,” are real crap.
Who do they think they are talking to!?
My basketball told me Apple is releasing an iTablet later this month! It must be true!
What’s really sad about all this rumor mongering boring-as-hell speculation crap is that there is NO MASSIVE MARKET for tablets. Been there done that years ago with the Microsoft tablet fiasco.
I have no doubt Apple would be the only company to do a tablet right. But who exactly is going to rush out and get in line for 24 hours to buy one of these things? MUST HAVE? I don’t think so.
The yawning continues…
