Canada’s Bell tries to take on Rogers and iPhone 3G with iPhone wannabe Samsung Instinct
Thursday, July 03, 2008 - 05:42 PM EST"The smartphone that has been hailed as 'the iPhone killer' by online pundits is coming to Canada on Aug. 8," Jack Kapica reports for The Globe and Mail Update. "The Samsung Instinct, which has many of the same features as the Apple iPhone, differs from the iPhone in one major way: Its monthly price plan, which will dramatically undercut the iPhone plan announced last week by Rogers Wireless."
MacDailyNews Take: Liar, bad comedian, or ignoramus; take your pick. Here's another major way that Samsung's Instinct differs from Apple's iPhone: the Instinct doesn't even offer Wi-Fi. Yes, folks, you read that right. Now, which "online pundits" hail Samsung's fake iPhone as "the iPhone killer," Jack? Those who were bought and paid for by Samsung and/or whatever carrier couldn't get the iPhone, that's who, Jack. Or those who have not used both devices. A real, independent, as-credible-as-you-can-get review goes like this, Jack: Mossberg reviews Samsung’s Instinct: ‘It’s no iPhone’ - June 12, 2008
Kapica continues, "A subscriber can buy the Instinct for as low as $149.95 and then pay less than $40 a month for a modest voice plan accompanied by an unlimited data plan on Bell's high-speed data network. In contrast, Rogers Wireless's cheapest iPhone plan costs $60 per month, and includes only 400 megabytes of data."

MacDailyNews Take: Samsung's Instinct simply cannot hold a candle to Apple's iPhone 3G. It exists not as inspired, original, revolutionary technology, but, rather as a ruse to help iPhone-less carriers attempt to fool the ignorant. Just like all of the rest of the lookalike-not-workalike iPhone wannabes, the Instinct is a joke to those who've experienced Apple's iPhone.
As our own SteveJack wrote back in April: "It's the same old, same old in an iPhone-inspired wrapper... You can judge the distance behind and overall cluelessness of iPhone's future roadkill by the amount they copy the iPhone's exterior... The question I'm left with for [all] of these companies rolling out imitation iPhones this year is: Exactly how stupid do you think your customers are?"

Canada's Bell should have the rights to the iPhone, as well. That will end Rodgers reign of terror!
