ORIGINAL article, posted 9:10am EST: China Mobile has ended iPhone negotiations with Apple over disagreements on revenue sharing, the Chinese-language newspaper Nanfang Daily is reporting.
The report states that Apple has entered negotiations with other domestic operators and distributors and plans to establish direct sales outlets in Beijing next summer.

Mexico is selling the iPhone with TELCEL already, but it cost about $980 Dlls. Does any body knows if that is legal? Telcel sales man said that the iPhone is not a “unlock or hacked” phone, he said that it is legal and it came with the warranty and telcel’s bill.

iPhone is surprisingly popular in Shanghai and sold in every electronics market. The 30+ Apple dealers don’t have them though, and are a bit steamed about it. They also can’t sell cheaper memory even the guy 5 feet from their door is selling the same Kingston RAM for 1/3 of the price.
It will be interesting to see how China Telecom (or Unicom) handles this iPhone deal, who has the upper hand? The phone is already available in the market and will be.
What I’d like to know is are the phones making a trip to Hong Kong or are they smuggled out directly from the factory, which is about 50 miles away from Shanghai.
