CNBC welcomes Mac users - finally!
Wednesday, April 16, 2008 - 09:17 AM EST

"Hey, have you noticed? Our video is brushed up. Quicker, sharper ... which, combined with our sheer volume and breaking news acumen is, well, a good thing. Okay, okay ... it's not the Second Coming of the video iPod, but around here we're a little proud," Allen Wastler reports for CNBC.

"And speaking of iPods, this brush up does a pretty important thing: It allows our videos to work on a Mac. That didn't always happen before. (Yes, an admitted fault)," Wastler reports.

"Going forward, this should be great for you, our readers. We post anywhere from 100 to 150 video clips a day," Wastler reports.

Full article here.

MacDailyNews Take: By, Jobs, it actually does work! This has been a pet peeve of ours for as long as CNBC has offered video online. As a test, watch CNBC's recent video, "Apple Tops the Charts: Apple's iTunes is jumping to the top of the charts in the music retail industry," as reported by Jim Goldman here.

The world is evolving... from the windoze-cretinaceous period to the mac-enlightinaceous period. Don't you love it?!

Apr 16, 08 - 08:33 am Comment from: Lurker_PC

Despite the public rift between Apple and NBC - NBC does seem to be changing it's stance a little towards Apple.

Peace.

Apr 16, 08 - 08:42 am Comment from: Michael Farr

Now if Bloomberg would do the same.

Apr 16, 08 - 08:57 am Comment from: F1Mikal

strange thing...I sent a thank you note to , it was returned as an unknown address.

Did the guy get fired after he implemented mac accessability for cnbc.

IF that is true, that is sooo wrong.

Apr 16, 08 - 08:59 am Comment from: cptnkirk

Too bad that CNBC can't spell. This is on every video page in their site: "Seperate address with semi-colons"

TWO mistakes in five simple words!

Nice that they're finally supporting Mac users! Now if they only worked on Macs so they would have go spell checking!

Apr 16, 08 - 09:01 am Comment from: cptnkirk

I, of course, did mean 'good' not 'go' spell checking. At least it's not a spelling error just poor proofing.

LOL!

Apr 16, 08 - 09:46 am Comment from: Cubert

I don't get it. Their videos didn't work on a Mac? They always worked for me, although I have to admit I didn't watch them too frequently.

Apr 16, 08 - 09:51 am Comment from: Cubert

@cptnkirk,
Done in by karma.

Apr 16, 08 - 09:56 am Comment from: HMCIV

MSNBC must be furious!

" . . . from the windoze-cretinaceous period to the mac-enlightinaceous period."

I need that on a bumper sticker or a t-shirt. Nice!

Walk into the light, Carol Ann.

Wow, they dumped crappy flash and started using H.264.
Every one else needs to follow this example.

Apr 16, 08 - 10:14 am Comment from: Mo

Nice that they are using H264...too bad it is in the Flash Player.

Apr 16, 08 - 10:23 am Comment from: Jubei

About freaking time. Now we can see Goldman and his reports on Apple. Probably one of the few good reporters out there.

Apr 16, 08 - 11:08 am Comment from: Corporatist Toadies & NeoCon Shills

The reason Faux Business Channel cannot get any traction is that CNBC is so far loony right wing it makes Rush look like a raging liberal. The public face of General Electric- the owner and operator of Conservative Noise & Bullsh*t Channel.

In case you missed this CNBC video, Leander Kahney trying to push his book by pandering to readers' gossipy side but being set straight by Stanford's Robert Sutton.
Perfect example of how a "journalist" and media use anachronisms to sell their stuff.

too bad there's nothing worth viewing there...

Apr 17, 08 - 08:53 pm Comment from: razor

I asked them about 2 weeks ago if it was a priority to get their video working well for macs and they said it was a priority and that they were working on it.

Cant believe it was actually true.
