“As pent up excitement for the next-generation iPhone builds, rumors are popping up everywhere. However, not until Steve Jobs pulls out the next-gen iPhone from his pocket at his keynote at Apple’s June World Wide Developers Conference will we really know what’s new for the Apple’s next iPhone,” Tom Spring blogs for PC World.
Spring offers a rumor roundup of what’s expected so far:
• 3.5G iPhone
• US$599, $499, and $399 for 32GB, 16GB, and 8GB respectively
• Thinner
• Case materials change
• Better built-in camera
• Push email (not a rumor)
• Contact search, meeting invitations
• Nike+ compatibility
• GPS

Me upgrade from my current iPhone. I want 32G now!!
I’m all over a 32 GB model, but only because I know that it’s unrealistic to hope for 64 GB at this point.
I don’t have AT&T;in my area.
Make a new model not tied to that AT&T;contract.
Wishful thinking, I know.
Dropping the price by $100 would make sense. I can’t see the wife going for a phone for 399.
As the rumor mill continues to spin and spin and spin…if history is any lesson, one thing is certain…there will be surprises and disappointments when the next rev iPhone. is released.
One other certainty, some (most cave dwellers) will buy an older version the day before the new one is introduced. Lamenting on this and other boards will commence with much fervor.

i just want an ipod touch ,and I don’t wanna feel like a chump ..
but really , EVERYONE gets free software upgrades, so I should just get a 16gb as Apple clears them out for the June upgrade
Huh? It’s only a rumour that the next iPhone will be announced at the WWDC…
For business users,
4GB (I do not use for music)
no camera, off limits to many work place’s
and price point of $299.00 or less
@HotinPlaya
Good idea – bring out a feature-reduced iPhone for Biz use.
Mail, Browser, Word doc. editor, high level calculator, converter, and other tools for daily use.
$199 with contract, $399 no contract.
nice article

@Mr. Sensible
Thanks
I have a 4GB and have 1.2GB of music, it has replaced the 5-6 CD’s I use to keep in my car (I use with a FM broadcast)
I thought I got a heck of a deal, when they discontinued the 4GB and sold it off at $299.00
By the way, they still have them in stock, I had to replace mine last month, and they replaced it with a brand new 4GB
CDMA model yeah
32G is the sweet spot for me. I like to have all my music on it. I think of it as my backup.
GPS is nice to have.
Australian release.
I wanna try that Australian release too.
DogGone, ” I can’t see the wife going for a phone for 399.”
You buy it then! You might be able to borrow the 399 from her.
It’s funny that when iPhone 1.0 was compared to other phones, then Mac fanbois kept saying that “we dont need this and that feature anyway, it’s useless..” etc etc
I bet these same ppl cant hold to their pants if/when iPhone 2.0 gets the same features..like a better camera, GPS, 3G, 3d party apps and so on..I guess any feature not included in iPhone is not needed/is useless until iPhone has them

I wont upgrade unless there is some significant reason to. Mine works great for me and 2.0 will be even better
The will not be a GPS. Forget it.
Apple needs a mapping application, and Yahoo is not it. Nokia paid something like 8 billion for a mapping company to do the job.
An it sucks the life out of the batteries still. They will stick with Google Maps and it current technology for on-the-fly personal navigation by triangulation.
So many rumours, I don’t know who to believe. Or should I just wait for the 2nd gen Zune phone, which will probably be released in a subtle chartreuse hue?
Excellent! Copy & Paste is finally coming to the iPhone!! Cool!!
Oh, wait. Never mind…
what about iPod Touch rumors?
Just wondering what peoples opinions are on why the iphone hasnt really taken off in europe and what apple need to do to change that?
needs a one-seg tv tuner to be successful in Japan. every phone has one. it is not an option especially for that price.
@simon
i live in berlin, germany and i think the reason for the slow adoption of the iPhone here is not the price of the handset but the ridiculous high monthly contracts attached to it. people here are used to pay 9 cents a minute nowadays, though an unlimited datrate is included in the 50 euro contract, the 100 minutes you get with the plan translate to 30 cents a minute, 3 times of the normal rate. as much people want the phone, they refuse to get ripped off for it. fix the plans and add some subsidies for the phone (as they now start to do) and it will fly.
Drop the exclusive carrier contracts, and then there is no way Apple can make enough to meet demand. Maybe the next gen will not be tied to the contracts. Here’s hoping!!!
