Hmm, no thanks. What I really need is something that will save my life.

Did the Detroit mayor have time capsule on his cell phone? The feds seemed to be able to go back and pull out thousands of text messages from years ago before they charged him with 7 felonies. Now that's what I call a backup!

I have had for a long time a LaCie disk, and I backup using SuperDuper regularly. You CAN boot up from SuperDuper - AND it's simple and automatic.

It took me weeks years ago to try to reconstruct my large files after a crash. I never did get everything back. I learned my lesson about backups.

Never feel smug, as it is next door to hubris.

Tempting the great computer in the sky leads to drive failure, software corruption, data loss, sinking stomach, heartache, loss of job, empty bank, poverty, loneliness, doom....

Mind you, TC's considerably better than nothing; just don't feel smug about it is all!

I accidentally deleted 9GB of video of ex girlfriends - trying to move it off my PB. TC saved me!

i believe you can boot using time machine - you just need your system disk to do it. (but, i use superduper as well for monthly backups.)

Boot from the OS Install DVD, and choose the option to restore from a Time Machine backup. It's actually quite modular, considering if you drove over your MacBook Pro, and bought a newer revision, you wouldn't have to worry about possible hardware incompatibilities (Santa Rosa anyone?)

It is true. I just had a problem, two days ago with my iMac at home. I had to reinstall it from scratch, and Tim Capsule was such a savior. It saved everything... Even the little things that I had, like the Japanese / English keyboard function.

Thank you Apple... Now, start working on the OS and fix these little bugs and slow downs... It'll be perfect.
