Anyway , Creative is pathetic, I´m not sure if I should laugh or cry...

I think I might have to break down and buy a pc so I can finally try to figure out what this whole zencast phenomenon is all about!!

It wasn't long ago when I bought some "insanely great" stuff that may not have been as insane or great as Apple wanted me to believe. Marketing is marketing. No need to kick anything when it's down. Let the market play out.

...that said; Apple really should have made a on-click way in GarageBand to make a podcast, and a similar button in quicktime(free) or iMovie, huh ?

Actually, there already is an excellent podcast entitled "Zencast". It has excellent talks on Buddism, mediation and Zen. I highly recommend it.

What's a zencast?

Sounds like group meditation to me.

Can Apple sue them for copying the hierarchical browsing and subscriptions?

Podcast is already too widely used for them to change the name. I have no doubt they will try but it will be without success. If you don't think the term is going to stick check various television stations that already have Podcasts such as nbc5.com in chicago (http://www.nbc5.com/podcast/index.html).

The iPod marketing is too far ingrained into our culture for it to change. For once Apple has done an excellent job at marketing its products. Now, if we could just get those mac commercials out there. We can always hope for something on tuesday.

BTW, The rumors have been pretty quiet this year. I miss the wild rumors from last year. It was much more fun

Zencast?... Windows-only??... well heck, it's already dead coming out of the gate!

Podcasts are everywhere for everyone. BePodder for BeOS was just released this past week, making it tough for the Windows-only crowd to push proprietary Zencasts!!

Don't they know that "Podcast" is the word of the year and will be added to the dictionary this year? I bet they can't say that about "ZenCast".

iPod is the definitive product; podcast the generic term. Meditate on that!

Apple has the eponym, Creative has the footnote in history.

Note: Apple didn't create the name Podcast. That's why it is so powerful and the became the "word of the year". The name was no marketing scheme, it coined and embraced by the marketplace because it made sense. Like the term "Sigalert" it is now part of lexicon and Creative can't do anything about it. Thet can tag their brand onto the product all they want, but at the end of the day what they have is simply a Zencast™ podcast.

Gee, I dunno, something original? Something that's not something exactly fscking the same as Apple? I've said it before and I'll say it again: Creative are me-too-ing themselves into the grave. What possible reason do people have to buy Creative over Apple? What difference do they offer (save some crappy features that the market has proven it doesn't care about)?

Duyamn, Creative sucks worse than Microsoft. If I worked there I would quit as soon as that press release came out.

Creative should change their name to Copiotive to better reflect what they are doing nowadays.

Zencast also appears to be hijacking podcaster's copyrighted content. They are republishing podcast news feeds under their URLs - which means that podcasters lose control over their listeners.

This is going to come back to haunt them.....
