Fastmac announces free T-shirt give away to commemorate Apple’s Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard launch
Wednesday, October 24, 2007 - 02:05 PM EST

Fastmac has announced a free T-Shirt give away outside select Apple stores on October 26th, 2007 to commemorate Apple's Mac OS X Leopard Launch Event. The T-shirts use movie inspired themes to poke fun at Microsoft Windows and celebrate Apple's latest (and greatest) operating system: Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. The T-shirts will be given away for free outside select Apple stores nationwide between 4 PM and 6 PM on the day of the launch. While supplies last, the T-shirts will also be available to order from Fastmac's website.

"With 300 new features and an advanced GUI that pushes the state of the art, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard is sure to be a major hit," said Michael Lowdermilk, Business Development Manager of Fastmac Performance Upgrades, Inc., in the press release "Our new soft wear complements Apple's latest software perfectly!"

Fastmac's Leopard Launch Event T-shirts are available in 4 limited edition designs: "Hasta La Vista" (which features a target scope lens focusing in on Microsoft Windows in the front and the words "10.26.07 Judgment Day" emblazoned in the back), "Mac to the Future" (which features a reference to the "other" Time Machine and the words "10.26.07 The Future is Now" on the back), "A Whole New Xperience" (which features a space theme in the front and the words "10.26.07 The Odyssey Begins" in the back) and "300" (which features a reference to the 300 new features in Mac OS X Leopard in the front and the words "Madness? This is LEOPARD" in the back).

Fastmac's Leopard Launch Event T-shirts are 100% compatible with Mac or PC, though Mac OS X Leopard requires an Apple computer that is at least 867 MHz or faster. If you don't have an Apple computer, head on over to the nearest Apple store and buy one; if you have one that is slower than 867 MHz, upgrade your processor with one of our high performance G4 CPU upgrades that start at just $199. All Fastmac products are 100% compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

Fastmac is a premier level Apple developer, designer and manufacturer of innovative upgrade products that add value and extend usability of Macintosh computers, iPods & iPhones. Fastmac's award-winning product line-up consists of batteries, optical drives, CPUs, LCDs and wireless products, including the world's longest lasting MacBook, MacBook Pro, PowerBook & iPod batteries. Lamest promotion possible.

I like the one with "A Whole New Xperience".
Not only coming from the Windows side, this is true.

A single customer might not see all 300+ features, but in general, this statement hits the nail on the spot.

Does anyone have an idea as to whether G4 class machines with a processor slower than 867 MHz will need to go through a third party app to install Leopard? Or will it be like Tiger where it could be installed on a few unsupported machines (the ones right below the minimum requirements) without problem?

I really want to put Leopard on my Cube. I think Apple should let the end user decide if the speed of the OS is acceptable on our computer.

It was amazing to see the community come together on this one. I received 50 emails and over 50 comments over at http://dailytechtalk.com/comments.php?id=713_0_1_0_C for offers from readers to give out t-shirts.

fastmac contacted me early and I did what I could to get plenty of names for them. I think over 100 stores will have shirts to give out. It's very exciting and mac users buying leopard and giving out shirts for the community is great!

I just can't wait for Macworld for all of my community events that people are already offering to help out with.

There will probably be shirts at the 5th avenue store in NYC, as well as the Bridgewater store in Northern NJ.

@BC - You know there will be. I'm the guy that sent your info on to fastMac.

Thanks again for offering to help.

The heck with the T-shirts, I just want an Apple Store!

@Cubert,
My Cube is my desktop machine and used primarily to stream iTunes to my stereo. My PowerBook is my main machine.

I have Tiger purring away on my G3 400Mhz Powerbook (you know, the one where the Apple logo is upside down when the lid is open) and though obviously not rapid the thing actually works.

Now I'm going to upgrade my nice new iMac and I'll try installing Leopard on the PB too and see what happens. If it doesn't work I've lost nothing.

I'm still debating whether to go to the Palo Alto or Valley Fair store for the Leopard rollout -- yeah, I've got two to choose from, I'm such a spoiled brat...

Free t-shirts will be distributed at my local store in Scotland (Glasgow) as well - so i've been told by staff.
