I'm not surprised Apple have aircon units in their R&D;facility – their egg-heads must generate huge amounts of heat from all the thinking they do!

Valley Green Six isn't what I would call Apple HQ. It's still in Cupertino, but it's about a quarter mile away from Infinite Loop.

The building is mostly office space for IS&T;staff. I think the main upshot will be that a hundred people or so will be working from home while Apple figures out what to do for replacement office space.

A pile of splintered office chairs was discovered as the origin of the blaze.

Still nothing about Apple taking the lead in security holes from Microsoft. I suppose this site should be called Mac Daily "Good" News.

Any tragedy such as this should be treated with some amount of respect and humanity. We are fortunate that no one was injured or killed when this happened. The loss of property and all the associated clean up and repairs will be costly.

Well, the fireman himself the biggest danger was from smoke damage, and not fire burning everything in its path - so that means the fire was somewhat contained. That in itself is bad enough, but be grateful Cupertino is still standing.

Plus, Apple have more than enough money to renovate the affected area, but the fire will probably set a few product timetables back, perhaps?

Woaw! This R&D;section must really be into fancy new Apple concepts!!!!!!!!!!

One hundred people working late at 10pm in one building? No wonder Apple is cranking out products at breakneck speed with a fraction of the MS employee headcount.
