Horde of brain-eating zombies invade San Fran Apple store
Saturday, May 26, 2007 - 10:48 AM EST

Apple Store"A horde of decaying zombies invaded San Francisco's downtown Apple store on Friday evening, hunting for brains, terrifying the customers, and gnawing on iMacs," Declan McCullagh blogs for CNET.

"I've placed some photos here. I'm pleased to report that the zombies ultimately decided human brains were tastier than plastic iMacs, although it wasn't for lack of effort in trying to vary what must be a monotonous diet," McCullagh reports.

"The event was titled "SF Zombie Mob 2007," and it was organized by the gruesome-minded folks at eatbrains.com. It's akin to a flash mob, though because the participants trek around the city after gathering, the Zombie Mob was closer in concept to the Critical Mass bicycle ride, which coincidentally was happening at the same time along the same street," McCullagh reports.

"It may be worth noting that the Westfield Mall and Disney security tried to bar the zombies from entering, but Apple store security did not. In fact, salespeople were jostling one another for a position where they could take the best photo of the zombies (or themselves with the zombies, or their brains being eaten by the zombies)," McCullagh reports.

Full article, with photo of zombie gnawing on iMac, here.

Even the un-dead see the light....

May 26, 07 - 10:21 am Comment from: ChrissyOne

Apple once again proves it cares for those with disabilities.
The dead are a huge, untapped market. Apple really wins here, especially compared to online-only sellers like Dell. I'll wager it's difficult to get internet access in most graveyards, so brick-and-mortar retail stores are the only way most dead can acquire computers, software, external drives, and internal organs.

"Hi, I'm a Mac"

"And I'm a PC"

"Uhhhhghuuuuuuh"

And just think of it, in less than 28 days, the iPhone will be out.

What? They didn't invade Best Buy to gnaw on Vista PC's?

Pity they didn't take some Zunes back to the underworld with them.

Yes, it is something when even the undead see the light. smile

That was hilariously funnny Chrissy.

Sparticus... it's Saturday morning bro, give it a rest.

May 26, 07 - 11:36 am Comment from: Joe Doogan

Those weren't zombies. Those were macfanbois driven mad by the interminable wait for Apple products (i.e. iPhone, Leopard); the mind bending anxiety of not knowing what will and what will not be discussed as future products, features, and strategies at WWDC 2007; and the excruciating torment of not hearing Jobs speak those exhilarating words “…one more thing”.

May I suggest my personal fantasies for WWDC “news”,

1. Mac “mini” with dual monitor functionality, Core 2 Duo (greater than or equal to 2 GHz), 4 meg L2 cache, up to 2 meg RAM, SuperDrive, 250GB hard drive, and independent graphics card.
2. Prospective specs and release time(s) for 45-nm-based Macs.
3. MacBook Pros with hybrid storage: 80GB flash and 120 to 250GB magnetic.

Now available in Black!!!

It amuses me to no end that regardless of how much we now know about the Bush Administrations lies and the cynical way they exploited US patriotism to pursue their own selfish goals there are still people who line up to defend or even promote Republicans and the Republican Party. Your ideology is bankrupt. You should look to that first before casting aspersions.

May 26, 07 - 01:36 pm Comment from: oh my

It amazes me when MDN posts a humorous story -- one about good clean fun -- some people cant resist the temptation to degrade the discussion into a political free-for-all ..

For those dim-wits who dont follow history .. this country's political atmosphere swings on a pendulum ... It swings right for a time .. then back to the left ...
Back n forth .. again and again ..

And thats the beauty of our system !! ... All voices are valid and important ..

Those who spew hate for one side or another are like these brainless zombies ...

</rant>

Oh yeah ... Chrissy ... youre in rare form today !! LOL

@ C1: Hi again, I was watching the Rugby Sevens Tournament.

Very fast! I then went to the iphone's well protected patents and proceeded to enter some blogs. There is a chap, I suspect he is one anyway, who is hell bent on denigrating all iphones patents. twighlightmoon and I have tried to make him see sense but I reckon he is a M$ employee spreading FUD on MDN. take a peek and see how it went! you will be amazed.

Anyway here I am and the political overtones of the blogs is proving to be a turn off. I might escape MDN for the rest of the day in a few minutes.

Why do anonymous people thread comments like, "I'm out of here."?

We don’t know who you are.
We don't know where you go.
We don’t care if you never return.
We just don’t care.
We just don’t care.
We just don’t care.
We just don’t care.

May 26, 07 - 03:59 pm Comment from: Crivens

Jings, Ampar left, at least as Ampar, when others, whose "humour" couldn't rise above that of drunk university students, appropriated his name.

You do realize you've described American politics of at least the last 100 years, don't you?

IMO the two-party system and the snakes that populate its ranks have served us good only by keeping the real nuts out of office. Yes, things could be worse...

Now with the system filling up with career lawyer-politicians and nobody worthy of power, one has to wonder if it's all been worth the cost. Sad to think it won't stop until our electorates -regardless of pary affiliation- have completely ruined the country in the name of self-gain.

Maybe we should give the zombies a chance at office. They couldn't fsck things up much worse than anyone else. smile

Jim - TiV,

Not my fault if people can't take a joke.

I wrote a ten-word sentence; people decide what spin they want to put on it or whether to take offence.

May 26, 07 - 04:11 pm Comment from: Bros Grimm

These are people who have been exposed to the M$ Vista operating system for more than 3 hours.

Close. These are people who attempted installing Vista onto their 6-month-old "Vista Ready" PC's.

Then again, most MS installs and activations leave people looking like that. smile

Here's a joke. Your mother is a whore. Your father is a closet fag. Your sister is a crackhead. Your brother is a moron and lowlife career criminal. Laugh it up or put any spin on it you want. No need to take offense, right?

May 26, 07 - 04:32 pm Comment from: Spartacus

I had no idea you'd attended one of our Thanksgiving dinners.

I do think "lowlife career criminal" is a bit strong - he was offered the job of Vice-President and it seemed like a good gig at the time.

Come on, you've got to admit that's a little funny.

May 26, 07 - 04:41 pm Comment from: @ Why?

May 26, 07 - 04:44 pm Comment from: @ Spartacus

Anyone who jokes about things that are worth living and fighting for is not the kind of person that deserves admiration or respect. Why don’t you hang out with a marine, soldier, sailor, or airman and share you “jokes” with them. You hide behind your puerile anonymity here, but you keep you mouth shut in the presence of America’s best. Let me answer for you, you haven’t the balls. You coward.

Thanks for all of that.

Suggest you make your elected representatives aware of all of those facts and then they can make sure the Veteran's Administration stops being gutted.

That would seem a more useful investment of your anger.

San Francisco -- Why some in the Middle East want to stop their people imitating the US.

May 26, 07 - 04:55 pm Comment from: Spartacus

@Spartacus

BTW, I have never said anything about marines, soldiers, sailors, airmen.

I simply said "Who knew there were that many Republicans in SF?".

I'm a little mystified about how you've gotten your panties so in a bunch from that comment, maybe you could explain?

To give you the benefit of the doubt, I'll assume you were even more outraged when Ann Coulter "joked" about blowing up the New York Times (a nice piece of humor for a city which had recently lost over 3,000 people). Or when Rush did his little number on Michael J. Fox during the last election? Surely their "crimes" were more offensive, or are Republicans no longer a subject of humor? Actually, you're probably right - there's nothing funny about being a Republican and I apologise unreservedly.

Happy now?
