Hot couple Apple co-founder Woz and D-lister Kathy Griffin grace the Emmys
Monday, September 17, 2007 - 12:30 PM EST

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is reportedly dating comedian and "My Life on the D-List" star Kathy Griffin.

Yesterday Woz accompanied Griffin to the Emmy Awards:

According to Entertainment Weekly, Emmy host Ryan Seacrest didn't recognize Woz "until some producer bark[ed] it into his earpiece."

Full article here.

Kathy Griffin won a creative arts Emmy, but her acceptance speech was edited when the event, which was taped, was shown Saturday on the E! channel.

The Associated Press reports, "In her speech, Griffin said that 'a lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus.' She went on to hold up her Emmy, make an off-color remark about Christ and proclaim, 'This award is my god now!'

"The comedian's remarks were condemned Monday by Catholic League President Bill Donohue, who called them a 'vulgar, in-your-face brand of hate speech.' According to the TV academy and E!, when the four hour-plus ceremony is edited into a two-hour program, Griffin's remarks will be shown in 'an abbreviated version' in which some language may be bleeped," AP reports.

I worship Apple stuff, I don't see the problem with awards. Religion is a scam anyway.

Sep 17, 07 - 11:38 am Comment from: Gil

Yeeeshka....

Sep 17, 07 - 11:40 am Comment from: Gary

That's right it's Christianity that's the world problem. Nothing to do with Islam.

Sep 17, 07 - 11:44 am Comment from: MacMan

People will never understand what they truly don't experience. Once a person truly experiences God and the love that Jesus has for us, they come to a true revelation. I agree that religion is destroying TRUE Christianity. It's about the relationship, not the religion.

"That's right it's Christianity that's the world problem. Nothing to do with Islam."

One word: Crusade.

Nonetheless, I agree with "M.X.N.T.4.1": Religion is a scam.

A wacked out couple. Hope they don't reproduce.

Sep 17, 07 - 11:47 am Comment from: Jim - TIV

scariest photo I've seen this month.

Sep 17, 07 - 11:55 am Comment from: Prophet

Of course religion is a scam. No way around that. But like MacMac said, true Christianity is not a religion. True Christianity is about God's grace which doesn't even exist in man-made religions.

Sep 17, 07 - 11:56 am Comment from: Prophet

Sorry, MacMan.

Sep 17, 07 - 11:58 am Comment from: iSteve

Did Woz speed them to the event in his Prius?

Sep 17, 07 - 12:01 pm Comment from: Hywel

I've never heard of her before, but Kathy rocks !

Sep 17, 07 - 12:01 pm Comment from: Thorin

Hot couple? Yuck, burn the bedsheets. It's too close to lunch time to have these images in my head.

" Once a person truly experiences God and the love that Jesus has for us, they come to a true revelation"

Hey, if your delusions give you comfort, good for you. Just don't expect anyone else to take you seriously.

When it comes to religion and the hereafter (not)...I wish those that "believe" would hurry up and go meet their delusion and leave the rest of us alone. Please go now... have some real faith in your delusion!

@MacMan

Thanks for making me throw up this morning.

Sep 17, 07 - 12:21 pm Comment from: Z. Lister

The problem with dating Kathy would be all the jokes: "You call that a pe-
nis? Show it to my hamster, he might be impressed!"

Sep 17, 07 - 12:23 pm Comment from: Diorama

All religions are a problem. Go Richard Dawkins!

Sep 17, 07 - 12:24 pm Comment from: Yours Smugly

Right on Kathy. I'm tired of those nauseating "thank you Jeebus" speeches some people make when they win an award, a miss somethingsomething title, sports championship etc. The reason you win something does not lie in some mythological figure, it is in yourself and the people who support you.

Rock on, Kathy.

PS. It's not about christianity this or islam that. It's just that people should keep their religious stuff to themselves instead of blowing up doctors who do abortions or blowing up skyscrapers.

Here, here!

I agree whole heartedly!

Kathy is my neighbor.
She is a fun, lovely, gracious woman.

Though I agree with her point of view on religion, I do not agree with insulting people's religions. People grow up with these ingrained belief systems and when we take shots at them, we hurt them deeply.

True atheists, true rational thinkers know to leave people alone about their religions. It is the extremely vocal atheists that actually have religious issues they need to work out.

I'll get religion on my deathbed.

Until then, phuque off.

Hey, Woz cleans up nice, huh?? grin

Actually both of these people are just using each other.
She is using him as a way to gather attention for the awards.
He is using her so he can speed in the HOV (multiple people in car) lane. grin

To John C. Randolph... You have proved my point briliantly. Well done.

Sep 17, 07 - 12:42 pm Comment from: Jesus H. Christ

It's all right. It doesn't matter what Kathy says. Or said. Or what any of you say.

I love her. And I love you.

And Kathy owes me.

And you owe me.

You ALL owe me!

Sep 17, 07 - 12:44 pm Comment from: MacMarc

Steve and Kathy kind of work as a couple -- they both have devious senses of humor. I wish them the best, or at least some good news coverage.

Sep 17, 07 - 12:46 pm Comment from: Macky

@theloniousMac

Very wise words... I'm sure winning the Grammy was a huge deal for her and it is obvious she has some deep seated issues when she takes up part of her 15 seconds of fame to take a shot at Christianity. Just because a few wackos out there totally miss the spiritual ideals doesn't mean all of Jesus's followers are wackos. Ditto with Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc...

Is it that hard to live in harmony with each other?

Sep 17, 07 - 12:50 pm Comment from: M.A.D.

Sure religion is a scam to many of you.

It's easier that way... sadly.

Sep 17, 07 - 12:50 pm Comment from: Georgy Porgy

Don't use the word "religion"...it's not about religion...it's only about each individual's personal relationship with Jesus Christ!! And, don't talk about hypocrites in church...we are all a bunch of hypocrites in one way or another.

Sep 17, 07 - 12:51 pm Comment from: Dimplemonkey

Kathy's got some internal issues she's dealing with. And if you disagree with me and tell me she's just trying to be funny or is making a statement, then you're telling me she's being spiteful, disrespectful, and hurting to those folks who acknowledge Jesus as their driving force in life. Why did she decide to pull this off at a high profile award show and not include this as part of her show that she won the Emmy for? Oh that's right, not many people were watching it - only the ones that agree with her bitterness and gave her a statue she could worship. Oh the irony!

That award is her god now? right...

I will thank Jesus and God for Kathy Griffin. Otherwise, none of this would be out in the open for all to discuss. Either No Jesus or Know Jesus. Let the chips fall where they may and I pray you chose wisely.

Oh wait, this was supposed to be about The Woz.

I refuse to talk about religion on a Mac site. I will say, Good for Woz. It is not easy getting old. In pictures it can be down right humiliating.

"One word: Crusade."

Umm, I believe that was payback for Constantinople.

Sep 17, 07 - 01:03 pm Comment from: lbuschjr

Regardless of your views on religion, stop this immature wishing people dead because of their beliefs. There are far too many horrible points in history which were brought about because people believed that other people should die because they didn't share the same beliefs.

Until you stop spouting off stupid remarks about wishing people who believe in certain ideas die off, we'll never have a better world and the same mistakes will continue to be made.

I didn't know Woz liked trannies..???!!

Sep 17, 07 - 01:13 pm Comment from: Grifterus

Polithics, religion.....

Whatever happened to technology?!?!?!

Let people believe (or NOT believe) in whatever they want, and let people say whatever they want.

The price of living in a free society is, we'll hear things we don't want sometimes. I'd rather have that than a censorship and my rights limited by what's "politically correct".

So, Kathy Griffith was right about saying what she wanted to, and Bill Donohue was right about raising his voice, since BOTH are exercising their freedoms.

Agree or disagree with any of them, I think we all agree it's great to have freedom

Sep 17, 07 - 01:13 pm Comment from: msr

I agree with MacMan... that's why I can hardly think of myself as a Christian. Those people have ruined the word for me.

Sep 17, 07 - 01:17 pm Comment from: Rene

Ryan Seacrest? ...speaking of D list celebrities. And did he bring his "beard"?

Sep 17, 07 - 01:46 pm Comment from: Augustine

The really funny thing is that atheists claim to be rational and scientific when they claim that they believe that there is no God, Yet they claim that believers are going on "blind faith" when they assert that God exists.

There are several inductive proofs of the existence of God; admittedly these are not conclusive, but they are persuasive.

The rules of logic, however, preclude the proof of a negative in any way. How, then, other than "blind faith," can an atheist explain his positive assertion that God does not exist?

Sep 17, 07 - 02:01 pm Comment from: what?

It appears that many people on here truly didn't understand the Kathy Griffin religious joke. She was not making fun of religion at all in fact she was supporting it more so than many of its supposed followers. How many time have you heard a rap star, or other entertainer, thank Jesus for an award? That in itself isn't a bad thing but those are the same people rapping about "smacking up their bitches and hoes." So, how can someone that speaks in such an unflattering manner about women claim to be this good Christian soldier? All Kathy was doing is making fun of those hypocrites. Those who think she was attacking religion or Christianity should really look a bit beyond the surface to see what see what was really at the root of the joke. It wasn't about religion but about the hypocrites.

Sep 17, 07 - 02:11 pm Comment from: Rob

Kathy's comments when she accepted her Emmy were just a joke. She recently had a comedy special that was titled "Everybody Can Suck It!" So, her joking acceptance comment where she said "Jesus Can Suck It" was certainly not surprising or out of character. I know I laughed out loud when I first read about it. Then, of course, the Catholic League had to chime in and bring lots of attention to a comment that hardly anyone had seen, or ever would see.

I love Kathy and her 'My Life on the D-List' show. But now that she's won an Emmy, her show will have to change names to 'My Life on the A-List'. Congrats Kathy!

That was a funny joke. Too bad it was cut.

It's called sarcasm and irony.

By the way, Kathy Griffin will be Larry King's guest tonight, Monday at 8PM Eastern (reshows at midnight Eastern), and she will be talking about her Emmy win, the controversy about her speech, and likely her relationship with Woz! Just thought some people may like to watch the show and find out more about who she was.
