I wonder if Atom has multi-core potential? It appears that you might be able to run dozens of Atom processors on the CPU power levels associated with desktop computers, and that arrangement might also offer the ability to power down individual processors or banks of processors. You could even use multiple Atoms in portable devices to provide short term surge processing capacity without necessarily taking a bit hit on battery life.

If you took the current generation of processors back about 10 years, they would be viewed with awe.
