Intel release date may signal new Apple Mac Pros soon
Monday, February 02, 2009 - 11:06 AM EDT

Apple Online StoreFirst quarter 2009 has long been expected release for Intel's Nehalem Core i7 Xeon release.

"Apple last updated the Mac Pro over a year ago in January of 2008," Arnold Kim reports for Mac Rumors.

"Readers waiting for the new Mac Pro, however, received a useful tidbit of news last week from Fuzilla.com. According to their report, Intel is expected to finally start selling Nehalem-based Xeon processors on March 29th, 2009," Kim reports.

"Unfortunately, Intel's release date does not guarantee a simultaneous Apple announcement, but should indicate a refresh is drawing near," Kim reports.

This Mac Pro update has taken a significant amount of time. I'm expecting a lot of internal changes but not necessarily a redesign.

I want it to look even more like an electric shaver.

Some blue neon lights inside should do the trick. And a spoiler on the top.

It already has a spoiler. Infact it has 4 of em.

@Jim

This isn't a windows machine for geeky gamers who live in their basement with no lights playing WOW all day...

though they could use it for that...

I just got my mac pro in november free from apple and lovin it. It would be nice if they made it a bit on the smaller side.. its kinda huge but I think it looks cool and works for me.

@jtc,

It was a joke dude. I guess sarcasm is scarce on the internet.

I don't expect we'll see a refresh for the Mac Pro until Snow Leopard is launched. Then the Pro, as well as almost all other Macs, will benefit from the light OS and the ability to use all of the processors in the box.

@cptnkirk--

Perhaps they're working on putting an installed user base in place.

Keep in mind, a software update is only an download away.

On another note, how long before I can get one of these in an iPhone? :D

Let me guess, Apple intends to keep up the fight, being the only company selling pro machines without BluRay. Hurray for the year of HD...umm that was like 2-3 years ago, right?

@Sixtytwo

Actually, it has front (wth?) and rear spoilers and front and rear diffusers. wink
